Do you need to be an Onstar subscriber to use the bluetooth with a newer Onstar module? Or will it work without subscribing?

You do not need to be an OnStar subscriber... it has the built in Bluetooth function.
I think there are a couple of threads from a few months ago on here about it.

Also, do yourself a favor and get a 2010 VCIM and save the headache and extra expense of going to the dealer for reprogramming. Also, this is for phone calls only. You can not stream music with the factory setup.

@cooch2584. Does you DTS have the 6 disk changer or the factory nav?

    Thanks,
    James

Hey guys. Found out I have to say "Onstar" first - then the car says "onstar ready". Was able to pair and is working great!
