Ours melted too. while removing a burnt bulb it was fused to the housing and actually cracked the black plastic during removal process. Another BRILLIANT engineering marvel be GM!

Cosign on the melted turn signal housings! Bought an 08 and the housings on both turn signals are EQUALLY melted on on the metal pieces above the bulbs. I am guessing the previous owner must have left the hazards on for a period of time.

My 07 never had the hazards on for long and hasn't been driven with "old man style Turn Signal On" situations. But those metal pieces are definitely starting to show a little tiny notch where it is starting to melt!

The turn signals act as the DRLs, so in the daytime, they are on the entire time unless the headlights are on. I'm glad I replaced mine with LEDs when I did. Mine were fairly cooked when I took the out.

Nope. Just get the bulb and swap them out. Install a power resistor in line with either power line feeding the bulb and you should be good to go.

Recently purchased 2006 DTS with same burnt/melted plastic above bulb. Only way to repair is completely replacing fixture. Service tech said same lie "never seen that before". lol

Living with it until I need new fixtures.

Tip...Turn auto running lights off during day

I find it easier to pop the fog lights on during daylight driving. That shuts the DRL's off and turns the parking lights on along with the fogs.

Re: '06 DTS Turn Signal Out...Housing Appears Melted

Interesting. I've owned my 06 DTS since new and about a month ago the passenger side bulb burnt out so I replaced both sides as they were original and 10 years old. I saw no signs of any scorching or burnt areas at all. Bulbs came out with no problems. Just getting to them was a pita but my housings are fine. I replaced them with the same factory part number. I am interested in the new switch back LEDs That are white when in DRL mode and flash yellow when the directional is activated. Haven't found a bulb that I trust yet.

06 DTS. Burnt passenger side lens. This is obviously common.

06 DTS, melted passenger side DRL/Signal. I replaced with led but that housing barely let me screw the bulb receptacle back in.

Did you use a switch back led or just yellow. Can you tell me the brand and where you got them? Thanks
