    Tire Pressure Monitor Problems

I have had the "service tire monitor system" message for a couple months now but I can't bring myself to pay 200 dollars for a valve stem! Is there any other option than just purchasing a new one and having it installed? That tire also loses pressure at about 5 pounds a week.
    Thanks

Go on ebay. You can buy new sensors from $19 to $60 depending on the year and model. Then bring the sensor to a tire shop when you get tired of loosing 5lbs per week.

My local Discount Tire Company sells them for about 40/50 bucks.
If you do business with them... installation is free..
Otherwise is is just a few bucks to have it installed.

    Re: Tire Pressure Monitor Problems

From what I can figure out there are 2 makers schrader and somebody else of course a number of brands and more than one color delco green schrader red standerd black etc I have read that they may not be compatible with the other 3 sensors but then It just might be the installers. I dont know how hard it is to replace, maybe some one who has replaced one can help out.I think schrader makes the delco sensor for the 06 dts but I dont know about a 2000 dts.Mike

    Re: Tire Pressure Monitor Problems

I searched for alternatives on the internet and found an aftermarket brand - Oro-tek. Less than $30 each. I bought four because one of my factory sensors went out. I assumed a bad battery and figured the others wouldn't be far behind. I had Discount Tire install them when I bought new tires. Working great after 6 months and very accurate.

    Re: Tire Pressure Monitor Problems

The leaking tire is probably rim corrosion. Clean the rim & re-install the tire with a sealant, that will stabilize the pressures & I bet the service tire monitor system warnings will go away. Worked for me.
