BlueSTAR Users-Is this the answer to bluetooth in the DTS?

Seriously considering getting this for my new (to me-08) DTS w/nav.

    http://www.costartech.com/pb/products/bluestar.html

Looks like a rather simple install although you have to reprogram the Onstar system so your new device doesn't throw codes. I just see every other bluetooth option as inferior; wires hanging or devices attached to the sun visor, etc. I know this has been discussed but looking for input on the entire experience.

    Thanks,

    Stu

I wanted it. But I would have to give up OnStar to use it. I use the OnStar phone since my car didn't come with Bluetooth.

Thanks but that's my exact point; I don't want to use Onstar which is a subscription service. With this device, it pairs to your own phone. No charges except initial charge and your regular cell phone bill.

I would like both, bluetooth and onstar. I like the onstar phone but mainly want it because of the safety features.

Yeah, that's a consideration. No Onstar at all, no unlock service or find it if stolen. I think I'm going to go for it though.

Stu, I thought you were going to just change your cvim to get bluetooth. Did you get the email I sent you?

I did but the BlueStar is a little less expensive and easier to install, no?

Are we talking about the modules you have to find at a junk yard, from a Pontiac G6? I'm not sure where talking about the same thing. When you say "at times" this indicates a fluctuating price. Need to know what your referring to because this sounds cheaper and better??

I have a vcim out of a 09 dts, yes it was from a junk yard that deal with newer model cars. Those are plug and play. All gm with bluetooth will work as long as the connection are the same. My first one i tested was out of a saturn vue and it worked fine. Pontiac g6 has nothing to do with it working in your car. I have been posting about this for over a year now.

    Stu,
I am interested in the Bluestar. Please let me know if you decide to get it. OnStar is not a priority to me. I would much rather have Bluetooth capability. I work on military bases where hands-free is mandatory and I want to continue to use my company cell phone.

Will do. I also do work on military bases; only from a desk in PA. I handle all the claims for members living in on base housing.

I am looking at buying a sweet 08 DTS Luxury III It has everything but the kitchen sink.....maybe that's in the trunk....ha...

OK, the only thing that has been holding me back is the lack of bluetooth and more specifically A2DP, I have to have Pandora. I need to make a decision soon so it doesn't get away from me so....if I get the module from an 09 and plug it into my 08 will I have A2DP capabilities (ie...streaming music)? Thanks in advance!

I'm very interested in the same question(s) as above?
Does the bluestar have streaming capabilities, and anyone have more info on this module upgrade and what it provides??
