Left foot in footwell: no room.

Why is the footwell, mainly for the left foot, so small in the DTS?
I love the DTS as it has the best seats and seating position of any car out there in my opinion, but it has a fatal flaw for me. My left foot is pushed to the right.
I can not swing it out much. Can this be modified at all? I just need about an inch. I used to notice the same problem on the 2000-era Seville, and Cadillac just seems to always give you a small footwell.
The right side is constricted, too,
but somehow it doesn't bother me at much. I wear a size 13 shoe and am 6-feet tall.
Another car-maker out there with left-foot problems for me is Volvo, which ironically also has great seats except for this problem (in the S80 and V90).
    Thanks.

If you ever drove a Chevy Astro minivan, you'd think the DTS was heavenly in this department. This isn't a problem for me. Then again, I don't have size 13 shoes.

Thanks. Oh sure, there is a lot worse out there, but it just seems that the the left wall where your foot goes is really think and protrudes. I've sat in a lot of cars in my search, and the most common problem in high-end cars like Acura RL, Audi A8, BMW 7series, and Infiniti M35 is a hard seat, especially in the front thigh-support area. The Caddy has THE BEST seats, supportive but not rock hard, so it's a shame about the foot space.

    I hear you.
I put over 500,000 miles on three Astro vans.
They were the perfect size for my job but they no longer make them.
Now I have a full size Chevy Express van.
It is a LITTLE bit better than the Astro van...but not a whole lot.

Interesting. I am 6'3 and also where a size 13 shoe. My beef was with the right foot (gas pedal) space. I removed a carpeted panel on the side of the console (bench seat version) and that gave me room to park my right hoof however I want. It is not noticeable either. Will replace whenever I trade. No trouble with left foot, thankfully.

Re: Left foot in footwell: no room.

Thanks cublr. I wonder if something could be done for the left side. I only need
about an inch and I think I would be happy. Someone told me there were cables
running in that space. My left foot naturally swings out a bit so that may be the problem. I sat in a lot of cars and definitely can tell that the DTS has less left-foot space. I used to own a Seville STS 10 years ago and noticed the same thing, even more so.

If anyone out there thinks this could be modified even by chopping out a piece of the left-foot wall, please let me know.

I really love the Caddy seats and the
driving position. The DTS has much more comfortable seating for me than current models of the Mercedes S-class (seat doesn't tip up enough), BMW 7-series (short seats with a moving thigh support that leaves a GAP behind it and the seat, a really stupid design), or Audi A8 (bulging, rounded, hard thigh supports), Acura RL and Infiniti M35 (hard seats), Lexus LS460 (seat doesn't travel back enough, feels more cramped than their Avalon).
