Tony,
If yours is like mine...just touch the screen where the clock is.
Then touch "SET"
It will change to the screen where you can set the clock.
Then touch the "NAV" button or the "AUDIO" button to exit and go back to the main screen.
Thats all there is to it.

| | Cadillac Owners Enthusiast | | | | | Re: map disc The Navigation system does use the satellite time for determining location. However, the DST setting will not change automatically. This is true of all GPS units whether or not they are in a car or separate units. The change must be done manually by turning the DST setting on or off. There are many different threads on this subject. If you wait for this to happen automatically, you will wait forever. There is no TSB, there is nothing wrong with the programming, it doesn't matter what you "assume" or "think," or how much you paid for the car. Change over from DST to no-DST or vice-versa will not happen automatically. |

Fortunately you are wrong. I do not know for sure if all units change automatically, but Tom Tom and Garmin units do change automatically just as cell phones do. Go thru various time zones while driving and they pick up on the local time. I have them in different cars and they work fine. |

I have several GPS units (three to be exact), all Garmin and none of them update the DST setting automatically. Picking up local time does not mean that the DST setting is changed automatically. It is not changed automatically. That is all that I said. As far as cell phones are concerned, they get their time from the system they are on at the moment, not from satellites. There is a big difference between the way GPS units get time and the way cell phones get time. If the time from the system that a cell phone is on has been updated for the DST change, then the time shown on the phone will be correct. GPS units do not work this way. |

The receiver must apply time zone rules separately to the data before displaying the "correct" time. Some do it, some don't, and many need updates as we keep changing the rules regarding Standard/Daylight time. GM/Denso? took the easy way out and left a big button on the nav to enable/disble DST. |

Yes, you are correct. Cell Phones and GPS units handle time differently.
Cell Phones obtain their time from a tower located in the area in which you are. Hence no need for a DST setting.
GPS units obtain their signal from a satellite and the satellite knows where you are located. My Garmin (255W) changes time based on which time zone I am located. My wife’s Tom Tom also changes time while driving thru different time zones.
In both cases there is no need for a DST setting.
Refer to Southern's post for an excellent explanation.
My Cadillac DTS unfortunately does not have the clock in the NAV system. It is an update I am not willing to pay for. |

The latest NAV disk update...updates the firmware in the NAV system and adds the clock to the bar, at the top right hand side.
