Talking DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

Remove this ad
Has anyone ordered the 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB option or had it installed on their DTS. There's quite a bit of information on the web but here's a link to check out:

If you have, what year is your DTS and how do you like it?

I forgot to mention that besides locking/unlocking your doors, and remote starting your DTS, it tells you your tire pressures, fuel level, and a few other things. Xmtr is 3x more powerful as well.

Re: DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

You may want to do a search in the 07+ Escalade forum. A few folks have them, and do not recommend them. There was a discussion about it as recently as the last 60 days, I think.

Re: DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

Thanks TSS,

I'll check it out. Too bad though, it looked like a pretty cool add-on.

Re: DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

I agree that on paper it looks like a cool accessory.

The folks who bought them and used them, provided some pretty objective reasons for why they did not like them as I recall. I have never seen one in person myself, but I am told that they are much much bigger than standard remotes, and have a fixed stubby antenna (like old cell phones). The uncomfortably large size was one complaint I recall. If you decide to go for it anyway, let us know how you like it.

Which brings up a line from a movie: Sometimes more isn't better. It's just more. I find the current fob unnecessarily large as it is.

Re: DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

I'm with Vic. The Caddy remote system is something that I cannot defend. It is too big, and who else has a remote that cannot be programmed to open all doors with just one click?
Is it so big because it still uses Vacuum tubes? (Ask SuperJim if you don't understand the reference )

Re: DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

My wife's 2008 DTS has the FOB that does everything. My 2009 CTS-V has a FOB and no key. The FOBs in both cases are the same size. Are they too large? Well, many foreign manufacturers have incorporated many of the same functions into the key with no FOB needed. While that part of the key is larger than a standard key, it is still smaller than the Cadillac FOB. If no key is required, then you can't implement the functions into a key. So, how about a smalled FOB?

Re: DTS 2-way Advanced Remote Key FOB

^^ Agree. Our 1994 Lexus ES300 had one key, and a small button on the side of the key itself, that remotely unlocked the doors. Given , it did not have a panic button or REMOTE trunk release, it was still pretty darn small and convenient. Now, 15 years later, I am sure there is a better way than GM is currently doing it.
