How much for trade/deal?

Remove this ad
We found an 07' DTS Performance, and an 07' STS awd v8, both for around $31,000. and both have 22,000mi. My wife will be trading our 03' STS, and our question is, about what can we expect for a trade on this really clean, 50,000mi. blk/blk car? (n/w Indiana area) Anybody willing to tell about their trade deals with dealers? What is the average we should pay for either car with a trade like this? Our car still is 'cpo' till june 09'. We will want 'new' car to be CPO also.

Re: How much for trade/deal?

Get a cash price on the cars you are interested in. Compare to your research. Negotiate a price. Then bring up trade. (Do not bring up trade when you start negotiating.) Keep in mind that dealers have at least a $3,000 to $4,000 mark up on most used cars. If you get one of these used cars for a wholesale price, don't expect retail on your car. You could also sell your car in the newspaper, but some sellers do not like to do that.

Have an independent garage check out the car you hope to buy. You can also engage 'lemon busters' for about $100 or so.
