Your post about the number of problems you have encountered with your DTS, versus the number of posts about how great your Performance model is, confuse me. What is the greater influence on sticking with Cadillac: either it runs greatm drives great, or has you buying the GMPP?
My only reason for asking is that I, like the O.P. on the STS forum, am wondering whether to stick with Caddies when it's time to move on. Right now, my wife's buying experience and general dealer treatment from M-B have me impressed, and then there's the JD Power list out today about Jaguar being the most reliable (go figure, huh?) so I'm really trying to get a well-rounded perspective on where we are these days... |
First I will say...I REALLY like my Cadillac.
It rune great...drives great and is, without a doubt, the best long distance, high speed, highway cruiser I have ever owned.
I have been buying cars since 1961, and have owned a bunch of them since then.
I will in all likelihood, buy another one in about two and a half years.
I have had a few problems with both this one and my other 2006 DTS.
The problems have been fixed, I have no current problems, but I don't feel that a $54,000 Cadillac should have had that many problems in the first place.
THAT is my complaint. More problems than it SHOULD have had.
THAT is the reason I bought the GMPP...because of the prior problems and since I plan on keeping another two and a half years.
By then it will have about 100,000 miles, (or more) and I figure it will have one or two more problems before the 100,000 mile mark and in addition, the GMPP gives me a little peace of mind.
As I said earlier...I have had other Cadillacs that were NEVER in the shop, even after owning then for several years. They were probably the most trouble free cars I have ever owned.
But...that being said, I like a BIG car and the DTS Performance Sedan "FITS" me. I have bad knees and hips and it is real hard for me to find a car I can drive all day without being so stiff and sore at the end of the day that I can hardly walk.
There are not many in this size class that FIT me for that amount of money. Unless they change the seats and make them uncomfortable to me...I will be looking for a CERTIFIED 2010 DTS Platinum Performance about the time the 2011's come out.
I have bought a LOT of new cars in the past. The one I have now is probably my last new one.
At my age, I probably will not buy another new one. I will look around and find a real nice CERTIFIED one that someone else took the first year depreciation hit on.
Then I will buy it and be happy with my "NEW" (to me) Cadillac.
Texas Jim
ps: sorry to get so long winded...didn't mean to write a book, but I do love my Cadillac.
