2006 Cadillac DTS - Navigation Install

Remove this ad
I purchased a 2006 Cadillac DTS with Lux III but no navigation. I want to add in the factory navigation and found a list of required items as follows in other posts but still have some questions.

Requirements;
1.Your Audio system has to be compatible with Nav Radio. vehicle must have UQA option
2. GPS Antenna is not part of your on star antenna, has to be bought separately. antenna mounts under the top dash
3. You also need to run VSS wire.
4.You also will need custom made harness with connector for voice command option and connector for VSS wire.
5. radio needs to be recalibrated

I have verified (by a dealer) that my vehicle has UQA option. The radio came with a separate GPS antenna to use so I have that. I have also ordered a VSS wire.

My problem is finding the custom made harness listed in #4 above. Does anyone know how I can buy one, or a get a schematic for it?

Also, my current radio has two electrical connections and one antenna connection. The Nav radio has four electrical connection points, one standard antenna and one GPS antenna connection point. What do I attach to the two extra electrical connection points.

Thanks for you help.

Re: 2006 Cadillac DTS - Navigation Install

Kevin,

Since you have the LUXlll...you also have the BOSE radio.
Have you pulled the existing radio out to see if the harness is already THERE?

It is possible that they wire all the LUX lll's with the same harness.
I don't know that for sure, but since a lot of them WILL HAVE the NAV...it seems like from a logistical point...they would already have the nav harness built in.

I know nothing about hooking one up...other than what I have read on the forums. Mine has NAV factory installed. I really like it.

Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.

Texas Jim

Re: 2006 Cadillac DTS - Navigation Install

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the idea.

I did pull the radio and do not see any of the other wiring plugs. In fact the two that are in my radio are not even identical in size like the ones in the Nav radio.

Maybe someone else will have more ideas.

Thanks,

Kevin
