broken power driver seat?

Wife wanted to "borrow" my car this morning while we are travling and the Power driver's seat decided to stop working. Wife complained she couldn't get it to adjust. I got in and it adjusted for me so I let her get back in and it wouldn't adjust for her, and now it won't adjust at all for anyone. So it didn't work, then it worked, now it won't at all. Found the circuit breaker (not fuse) in the under-rear-seat fuse block, removed and reinserted to see if that would reset. No good. Thankfully the seat is adjusted to suit me so I can drive five hours home tomorrow.

Reminder to self: Do NOT mention power seat problem and wife's New Year's diet in the same sentence or in any reference to each other.

Dealer said they found a short, but had to remove seat cushion and replace much of the seat adjuster due to inability to get to parts of the harness that contained the short. The paperwork said they traced it to a bad worm gear also.

Hate to think what this would cost if it was out of warranty. Never had a seat adjuster go bad and I have driven a half dozen big GM sedans (not Caddies) past 135K miles in the past 20 years.
