Question for Performance Package drivers

Remove this ad
Do you have a constant vibration in your gas pedal??

I notice mine more when I drive with loafers (and no socks), but lately I've noticed it even when wearing my New Balances. And today really sealed the deal b/c I did alot more driving than usual, and while eating dinner, I noticed that my shin and foot were still tingling from driving all day with this vibration.

Before I take it to service, I just wanted to ask those of you with the Performance Package if you notice the same??

Re: Question for Performance Package drivers

A co-worker has an 04 DHS with the same symptoms. He's had the problem since he bought the car about a year ago. He said the next things to try are replacing a wheel that has a slight dent in it and then replace all four supposedly perfect (and perfectly aligned and balanced) tires.

Re: Question for Performance Package drivers

I read recently about a cable that may need to be re-positioned.
It causes a vibration like you are describing.

There is a TSB on it... but I don't remember where I read about it at.
The only thing I find is that it was featured in the "MAY" GM Techlink Online.

See if you can get a hold of ewill3rd... he may know about it.
He is pretty good.

Re: Question for Performance Package drivers

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll take it to the dealer and have it checked as soon as I can. But I've been extremely busy the last few days and it was easier to just park it and drive one of my other vehicles.

Besides, until I can get the Bridgestone Tires replaced, my ears and my backside could use a rest from their NOISY ROUGH ride.

i have a 07 performance had the same problem it was the bridgestone tires cadillac dealer replaced them with 4 michelins after a lot of leg work. Vibration is gone. What a relief. I now enjoy my cad. Also last week put nitrogen in tires. It made the ride much better. Good luck ct. Tony

Re: Question for Performance Package drivers

Update....

Had the Bridgestones replaced with a set of Michelin Pilot MXM4s today.

It wasn't cheap, but thankfully I have my Cadillac ride back!!! While I was waiting, the guys told me they had done the same on two Lexus LS460s this week with the same Bridgestones. Both drivers had the same complaints--vibrations and road noise.

Will update again when I've put a few more miles on these Michelins.

Seriously though, the real difference may have been that the tires were adjusted to the proper air pressure, which improved the ride. Not, the nitrogen itself.

Re: Question for Performance Package drivers

Don't you know that nitrogen atoms are 30% softer? A certain toilet tissue manufacturer discovered that if they infuse the paper with nitrogen, the paper was noticeably softer to the touch.

That would be my guess.....But......It's possible that the seller of the nitrogen told the OP the ride would be better and he bought it.......

Yeah, RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT! The dealer did try to tell me that the nitrogen filled the tires more evenly and would eliminate the flat spots thus ending any and all vibrations I was experiencing, but would do nothing about any reduction in road noise. That, according to them, was a byproduct of the aggressive tread on the tires--"the more grip the tires have, the more road noise they will produce."

I wish you could have seen the look on the shop guys faces when I summarily shot all their double talk out of the water.

I was in need of a good horse laugh, and they more than provided!!!
