One of the advantages of a transverse engine design is that the shorter engine compartment leaves more room for the passenger compartment and trunk. |
You`re right that the transverse engine makes for a shorter engine compartment.I`m sure everyone knows when you look at the Goliath Caddy luxury rides from the 60`s/70`s,a lot of the extra length on those rides were between the firewall and the front bumper as the engines were mounted straight in.
I know i`m a bit repetitive about the smaller size of the current fleet of Caddy
luxury cars-----perhaps it`s because i remember the grand times when excess ruled/no worries of gas prices/mpg,and the roads were full of extra long/wide luxury cars.I see that image in my mind and look at the shrunken down versions being offered today-----there`s no doubt about,"times are a changin".
