Tire Flair

Tire flair,,,I don't know what else to call it. I have a 08 performance with Bridgestone Turanza tires.. I noticed some viabration at certain speeds on certain types of road surfaces (verysmooth black top and pebbled blacktop) then on a similiar surface only a different stretch of road everything is smooth. I have had the tires spin balanced at the dealer but I don't notice much change.. The veh has only 1900 miles and the rebalance (which the tech said the drivers side wheels were a little out of balance) was done at 1600 miles. Any idea's other than to have them balance at different site?

Jerry in Minnesota.

Re: Tire Flair

Find out if your dealer ahs a ROAD FORCE balance machine. If so have them rebalanced on that machine. Not just a spin balance.

Re: Tire Flair

Could very well be a dynamic tire balance issue, though I would expect you would get the same vibration at the same speed on all relatively smooth roads. With my '08 Performance I've noticed vibration on two particular stretches of road that I travel all the time, one section of smooth asphalt highway driving at 65mph, and one section of smooth urban concrete road driven at 45 mph. I'd suspect tires...except I had the same vibration with my 300C with both the Conti tires as well as replacement Goodyears. So for me, it's obviously suspension dynamics reacting to a particular road surface condition.

Re: Tire Flair

I'm having some of the same problems. I drive the same route day after day after day after day......
The dealer has rotated and road force balanced the tires and filled with nitrogen. Most of the vibrations have subsided, and the nitrogen has so far eliminated the flat spotting, but I still notice some vibrations above 65 mph, not much but just enough to be noticeable. Also, this car seems to notice pavement imperfections that my '06 Lux III, would glide over, its not jarring or uncomfortable, but the ride is slightly firmer. I attribute this to the MRC, but the tires could still be partly responsible. One last thing, these Bridgestones are noisy. I thought the road roar from the Continentals was unacceptable, but these take it one step further there's always a low grade hum no matter how glassy smooth the pavement may be, which is all the more noticeable considering how quiet the rest of the car is. And according to Bridgestone, these Turanzas have their 5 degree noise reduction technology which is supposed to eliminate said road noises. The dealer left the next step up to me and said they would do whatever I choose.
