1. improve gas mileage up to 50%.
2. improve performance up to that of an F18.
3. make car go faster than a speeding bullet
4. make car leap mountains and canyons in in leap.
5. stop trains in a fraction of a second (or less).
A friend of mine (Clark Kent) says he is thinking of installing 2 of these on his 1956 Caddy. |

It's shipped with its own straw applicator. You don't put it in your car, though. Once dose and you'd swear you get 600 miles per tank, can out race a Ferrari, do 6G turns, literally stop on a dime..........

thx | Uh that was a joke.....
None of that cheap stuff on eBay will do anything for performance.'
Actually it is easy, but not particularly cheap, to get more HP out of a normally aspirated engine.
Why didn't GM do it if it is so easy?
GM has to build to govt regulations.
They have no choice.
THEY know that a Cold Air, low restriction, input together with a low restriction Catalytic, feeding a low restriction exhaust system would give them 10% or more , power. But they also know they would fail the sound regulations and besides many people buy big cadillacs BECAUSE they are quiet.
But we are not restricted.
We can add CAIs and Flow thru Mufflers and cats.
IF (and that is a BIG IF) they are available..........I don't have any desire to do these things anymore (Usta do this stuff all the time but somewhere in my late 60s, I "matured". Lol!)
A good CAI should run in the neighborhood of $300, a flow thru cat would be maybe $200 and a good flowthru muffler $400/600 as a guess.
Of course there would be costs associated with the exhaust pipes, labor etc.
Done correctly, this won't disturb the ECU and it should net you 25/40 HP on a DTS I would think
Anyway, that's the easiest way to get more HP and TQ out of a standard factory engine and IMO this will not hurt your warranty. There is a thing called the Magnusson-Moss act that should protect you. |

I am having my DTS professionally tuned on Dec 14th.
The general consensus is, that I am wasting my money...and maybe I am. It sure wouldn't be the first time I paid the STUPID TAX.
Will not argue the point at this time. Reckon we will see after the 14th.
I bought a new Transmission Control Module and a new Engine Control Module and will have the tune installed on those modules. That way, if I don't like it, I can put my original ones back in. I can also reinstall the original ones if I need to take it in for service or warranty work.

I've been using K&N air filters for years on several vehicles, including a Corvette, and have never run into any of those problems. In fact, the increase in air flow improved gas mileage and under certain conditions (cold/cooler weather) increased performance. The key is forcing cooled air into the intake. If you add a K&N air filter ($45) and a Flowmaster muffler ($60+ labor) you should be able to get a 5-10% increase in HP for less that $175, however, I don't know if Flowmaster makes a muffler for the DTS.

K&N is very good at moving their product, but never lose sight of the marketing hype: "Gains up to......", "Can increase fuel economy by XXX %", "Flows more air than stock...." can all be proved or disproved by spending time and money on a chassis dyno. (....and DO NOT stick an oiled filter in a TB/MAF-controlled intake: oil vapor on a MAF is an expensive performance killer.
These cars already have a perfectly adequate cold air intake setup which, from the factory, flows more air than the engine needs at WOT. The trick is to get a filter in there which is not the main restriction in the system.
Just for grins, go to your local NAPA or large car parts store and compare several things about air filters: cost, construction, and most important, media surface area. The more surface area, the higher the flow with better filtration. Look at ACDelco, WIX, NAPA Gold, and Parts Master, for starters.
Google "knize oil filter study" and get a different slant on hype and your money. |

My opinion is that K&N is a very large company with a a lot to lose.
Here is their position and I believe them since they have exposed themselves to huge class action liability if they are lying.
Besides, I have used K&N for 20 years with absolutly no problem......other than having overzealous mechanics throw them away and put in a junk Fram.
I currently have a K&N on my 2003 Murano that has been reoiled and reused 4 times. It has been on for 4+ years.
My Chrysler T&C was sold after 7 years with a 6 year old K&N that had been reoiled several times.
Here is what K&N has to say about it. http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?ID=422
And here is what K&N testing has shown. http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massair.htm
(One thing to take away from this is that when your mechanic says that the MAF is bad......he may well be wrong.)
There is no way for us consumers to actually know with certainty.
So the easiest and safest would be to not use the K&N.
I will buy mine and install it at the 8-10 mile point on my DTS.
And I will clean it and reoil it every 8-10,000 miles or so.

Not too sure how much help it was either | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
