To me, the disappearing auto release is, like ewill said, no big thing.

Here's the problem as I see it.

Traditionally the Japanese come out with a new car and it has the latest tech.
Traditionally GM comes out with a new model and it has the latest tech.......but not always. Having to click twice to unlock the passenger door is SO 1990s........................or was that the 80s?

Then the Japanese add content through the life of the model. It even has a name...................."continuous Improvement".......as taught by Deming to the Japanese.........
Then GM De-contents the car..............Where did the side shades go? How about the rear shade? The Auto brake release then become just another thing dropped.............It is ALL cumulative.

This is what must stop.

The best car to own in Cadillac is almost always the first of the model, before they de-content the thing............But then you have to put up with the spotty reliability of a first year model...........

Anyway........rant off..........................just thought I would mention some things that chaff me a bit this fine saturday morning.................it's raining so no walk on the beach..................

That's such a cool feature

I don't know why they deleted that feature but I am sure it was to cut costs. STS, SRX, and CTS don't have locking fuel doors either. AFAIK XLR is the only one that still does.
I hate it when car's don't have locking gas doors. Luckily the only vehicle that doesn't have one in our 'fleet' is the truck. I'm really surprised none of the newer GM cars have them.

Re: Parking Brake Release 2008 Dts

ewill3rd pointed out the value of the automatic parking brake release on the CTS. He said it was helpful to people who had a manual transmission but didn't know how to deal with that and the car stopped on a hill. I can see that. I had a 2004 and a 2005 CTS-V where the only transmission available was manual. I drove a manual for over four years and then ordered a 2009 CTS-V with an automatic transmission as soon as it was available. No more shifting for me - thank God.

Re: Parking Brake Release 2008 Dts

Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great feature.
I will never really understand why they do something for 20 years then stop for no apparent reason.
That electric park brake on the CTS-V is pretty cool and they are adding it to new models all the time.
The whole CTS line and the 10 SRX have it.
