I ordered mine at the end of January and when the factory finally took the order, I was given a build date the first week of March. But, when I called the dealer to make arrangements on the return of my '06 and find out when my '08 would arrive, the dealer told me I needed to call GMAC to arrange a lease extension because Cadillac had informed them the day before that my car would not be built until the American Axle strike is settled. |

Why not extend your lease till August and cancel the 2008 order and order a 2009? Thats only FOUR MONTHS.
By the time the 2008 gets built and delivered, it will be almost a calendar year old.... The first ordered 2009's will be out by the end of August/1st of Sept.

Unfortunately, GMAC no longer extends leases. The dealer was nice enough to give me a loaner to drive, and I'm sure they would let me keep it until the '09 arrived but I'm not sure I can drive it that long. Its a Luxury I, and it seems like a completely different car from my Luxury III. It doesn't ride as well, its much noisier at any speed, and the standard radio....well it stinks, also the seat lacks support, and the a/c doesn't cool as quickly, I could go on, but you get the picture. From all the press I've read, I may not have a choice since it appears as though neither side is in any hurry to settle the strike. There is one bright spot, for the first time in many, many, many moons, I won't be making a car payment! SO maybe it isn't so bad after all! |

rjm,
I have driven a couple of Lux 1's. Didn't like them at all. They seem kinda cheap compared to the LUX lll.
You are right about the stock radio. It is not CLEAR sounding. It has a muffled ... muddy sound to me.
I also agree with you about the seat support and the car being more noisy. Don't forget about the heated and cooled seats also. I love that feature.
BUT...... if I could drive it for free... while waiting for my 2009.... I might just do it... but I would have an ulterior motive.
I love road trips...........
I would stash the money I wasn't using to make a payment in a special savings account.
Then when I got the brand new 2009....... ROAD TRIP.
And the good thing is, it would cost me nothing.
You use the money you would have paid on payments for a 2008 and you get to take a nice trip in your brand new Cadillac.
But thats just me... I love free.
Texas Jim

Been holding off the official announcement until I get some photos...but took delivery of my DTS Performance on 4/8/08. That's the morning after local hail storms caused several millions of dollars in new car inventory damage to the dealerships in South Tulsa (Don Thornton Cadillac had mine in the garage, though that part of town only got nickel sized hail). Still kind of feels like I'm driving someone else's car. Will do a "review" when I can post pics...but to sum things up: What a ride ! (And what a color--the Dark Cherry is spectacular. Will be a female dog to keep clean around here but it's luscious....) |

TulsaVic,
Glad to hear you finally got it. I love that color.
If I was getting another one right now, the Dark Cherry is is probably the color I would go for.
I have had a lot of white ones (and liked them) and I really like my 2006 White Lightning, but I am about ready for another color on my next one.
Give us a quick review, even if you don't have pictures yet. Give your impressions of it. What do you like and dislike?
