I just re-read my post and realized I forgot to include the link to the ordering guide I explained.
Here it is:

Tony looks like a good guy and a good place to buy a car.
Tony, I sold DODGE cars & trucks for "only" 16 years ! I can & do
appreciate what a difficult and underpaid job it is. Most customers,
(not I) are a regal ############### and my blood pressure was
getting too high over commissions too low & I walked away from it all.
If I was not in New Jersey, I'd buy a car from you!
But, my special model Town Car is great & with just 11,000 miles.
I don't like Cadillac's pre-packaging methods.
(As in, if I buy a Platinum Ed. I cannot have a CD ??)
(If I want the underbody upgrades to the suspension,
I HAVE to have Bucket Seats ??)
Do I have to have "Pin Stripe DELETE" in order to
get Heavy Duty Battery? See what I mean?

I'm guessing you mean the CD Changer, because Platinums still come with a CD player.
Believe me, I agree (both about the option packages AND the annoyances of my job ), but I do understand why they group options the way they do. In order to simplify assembly and keep the cost of the cars reasonable, they organize features based on market research and logic- there's not that many people out there that would pay Platinum Edition money and accept a car without Nav (I know you're the exception, but 90% of people wouldn't). Similarly, most people who want sport suspension also want bucket seats.
I know it's annoying, but allowing options to be ordered "a la carte" is what drove the price of a fully loaded 2005 DTS up into the $60,000 price range WITHOUT features like ACC, Lane Departure, Side Blind Zone, Tehama leather, lighted sill plates, leather dash, etc.... By grouping things and simplifying the assembly they are able to offer more content for less money.

Well said Tony. Although I wish Sandy could get what he wants, I understand GM had to do this to keep up.
I remember years ago Acura was even worse. Basically you could get a base car or a totally loaded model - no a la carte and no middle ground. Just a Legend or a Legend "L", etc. At least GM is not at that point.
I don't like factory NAV. When they start mandating (aka "grouping") NAV in order to get other basic options like sunroof/cooled seats/premium wheels, I am going to have a problem....
Amen to that. When I leased my MKZ last year, after about 15 years of GM vehicles, I was pleasantly surprised to see ala carte options. I was also pleased to see that my wife's favorite color, red, was not a $950 option.
I definately agree, but...remember that Tony is there to sell cars and make customers friends for life. We would be better to voice our opinions directly to Cadillac. The closest I could get to the bullseye was a Level III DTS with all of the other options, excepting Navi. plus Tehema Leather & Moonroof.
Tony, I have a motto that makes all my friends laugh their @$$ off - only 'cause it's so true of me....
"If I don't know how to get to someplace, after 44 years of driving, it means that I shouldn't be going there !!"
Tony, I saw both Plaza's site AND yours. Very nicely done. Corporate wise, I was lOOOOking for an individual mug-shot of each of the guys on the floor, and there wasn't. I also noted that the "owner" or "owners" were ingocneto.
My Caddy dealer was struggling for years. A 12 cars a month store. Deep in debt and not getting any younger, he sold the property to a "developer" who put in ultra luxury condos. He sold for 16 million and came out of it with at least 3/4ths of that ! It was BOP & Caddy store AND did 12-14 a month.
I was invited to an exclusive showing, for folks who have owned NEW at least 3 new Lincolns.
That's exactly the # I have owned. I was underwhelemed by the car. All I could "see" was
a warmed up Zypher / MKZ. A pinch here and a tweek there, but overall, a small car. I don't
"do" small cars. I usuallybuy the biggest car (in size) going.
I have had:-
10 Imperials
03 Lincolns
02 Cadillacs
To me, a CTS or a MKZ is a kiddie car. I am only 5 foot 10 inches & 200 pounds, but
I feel cramped in anything not BIG. I know soon there will be nothing "big" This (2008)
is the Town Car's last fling, and the DTS of today is a dworf compared to 1976 Fleetwood
Brougham. The intermediant Buick Regal of a few years ago is now larger than a 2008
Lucerne Super !!
After the Town Car & then DTS the next largest is a Grand Marquis. E'Thing else is tiny car.
