The new Cadillacs do not have the automatic parking brake any more either.

Re: Okay, Back Again & Ready To Order !

Okay, $40,000 from the return of the money from my impending sale of my 03 Town Car for $20,000.

If you get 20K for an '03 TC, I am coming to your town to sell my next vehicle. They don't hold that well here.

Still..... I am scared to take the plunge.

You have done your research, you are obviously a "car guy". Settling for something other than your first choice at this point would be a mistake. Take the plunge. Or, start a search for a CPO model and give up the dream of a bench seat. Good luck!

Really? I don't recall ever setting mine in the Lade or SLS or my other recent automatic vehicles except to depress it to shut off the lights to program the ECM. You use yours enough to justify extra cost and parts? Should I be using mine?

I hardly ever use it so it is no big deal for me. Maybe two or three times a year.

It just kinda ticks me off that they keep taking stuff OFF of the cars, instead of ADDING stuff TO THEM.

This is a top of the line CADILLAC...

They used to be The Standard Of The World. Too bad they are not still that.

Re: Okay, Back Again & Ready To Order !

Of course, you all should use it, otherwise the weight of the car, rolls forward or backward onto the transmission pin, and the "Park" gear is actually holding the car, NOT a brake ! This can wear out your Park Detent and render your "P" useless.

So, they too deleted it? Man, that kills me. You just cannot get EVERYTHING on one damn car. (Only the 2003-2007 Town Car)!
I have an in dash Cassette AND an in Dash Single Slot CD and a Trunk Mtd 6-Disc CD, Cornering Lamps, Fog Lights, Heats Seats, Auto Down Pwr Windows, Auto Parking Brakes Release, HIDs, Power open & Power Close trunk, Power Recliners, Memory Sets for 2 people, Twilight Sentinel Lights, exterior keyless entry with door buttons, Sleep Mode to locks, even a self lifting hood! You pull the secondary latch in front and raise the hood 1 inch, and the hood takes over and raises itself and slows to a stop.

Cars are going backwards with convenience items. Best one out there is a Performance Platinum Edition DTS.....but they MAKE you take Navagation with that Pkg and that tosses out your CD player !! I'd rather have the CD player! (6 disc)
I think I am gonna keep my Town Car.
and wait and hope. Less is more is in vogue.

You haven't seen anything until you have ridden in one of the $120K+ Euro luxury sedans. Now that is EVERYTHING.

My suggestion is keep your Town Car. I don't think you can get $20K for it and with only 11,000 miles it is still practically brand new and the exact car you and your wife want. Unless you are utterly bored with it and can't stand to look at it or drive it anymore, it sounds like the perfect deal!

Sandy,

Not trying to argue with you, this is just some of my experiences.

I have had some cars for almost 20 years and well over 200,000 miles and have never had a problem with PARK. I almost NEVER use my park brake.

If I lived in hilly country like San Faancisco... I am sure I would use it ... but down here in the flatlands of Texas... just never got into the habit of using it.

Cadillac vs Lincoln........

My Cadillac also has in Dash Single Slot CD ... it is MP3 capable. I put around 250 songs on each cd. That is around 12 HOURS of music on each cd. I carry two or three extra MP3 cd's in the center console so have about 36 to 48 HOURS of music available at my fingertips... more or less.

I don't think I would like a cd changer in the trunk. Too much hassle changing the cd's all the time. I don't like listening to the same music over and over in a short time span.

I also have Cornering Lamps, Fog Lights, Heated AND AIR CONDITIONED Seats, Auto Down AND AUTO UP Power Windows, HIDs, Power open trunk, but it is not power close... you have to close it.

I also have the Power Recliners, Memory Sets for 2 people and HEATED AND COOLED, MASSAGING LUMBAR SUPPORTS, for BOTH front seats and lumbar supports and heated seats in the back also. But they are not the back massaging kind in the back seats.

I also have Twilight Sentinel Lights with automatic changing to BRIGHT when traffic conditions warrant.

Also have the RainSense windshield wipers. When it starts raining... they turn themselves ON and adjust their speed, depending on how hard it is raining. At the same time they turn on your HEADLIGHTS for the duration of the rain. When the rain stops.. the wipers turn themselves off and turn off your headlights and turn back on your daytime running lights.

And I also have the self lifting hood! You pull the secondary latch in front and raise the hood 1 inch, and the hood takes over and raises itself and slows to a stop.

About the only thing your Town car has that my Cadillac does not have is a cassette player, the buttons on the door to unlock it and the power trunk closer. I would like to have the power trunk closer.

I don't own any cassettes and use my FOB to lock and unlock it so neither of those features are an issue ... at least for me.

I also use the FOB to REMOTE START it in cold weather or real hot weather. Depending on the outside temp.. it will turn on your heater or A/C as needed and also turn on the heated seats in winter or the A/C seats in summer.

The navigation system will automagically tell you where the closest gas station is when you run low on fuel and the low fuel light comes on.

I did it one time only ... just as a test. I usually don't let it get much below a 1/4 of a tank.

Texas Jim

100% Ditto. I suppose if I ever found myself parking on a hill, I would use it. That has not happened in many years here in MI. To use it when parking on a flat place, definitely not needed or recommended in owner's manual to the best of my recollection.
