What's the difference in the base leather, Tuscany, and Tehama leather seats

Just started looking at the 2008 DTS. Could anyone explain the differences to me in the above three leather selections? Are they worth the extra price?

Thanks!!

As you know.....Nuance is standard and Tuscany is extra cost and Tehama is really really extra cost. That being said,my dealer had swatches of the various leathers and the "Tuscany" just appealed to me so I ordered it.It just felt nicer to me...Your results may vary......

I have Tuscany - I like it a lot, but the base (Nuance) leather smells a lot better. The Tehama leather is stunning - but way too expensive for car upholstery, IMO. I am going with base leather next time.

And don't forget that with the Nuance leather, only the fronts of the seats are leather the rest of the seat is a vinyl synthetic blend.

Re: What's the difference in the base leather, Tuscany, and Tehama leather seats

Nuance leather is Cadillac's name for Pigment Dyed Leather, which has a clear topcoat to mask imperfections, as well as provide more resistance to wear and discoloration. The color is applied to base crusts of differing color and the dye is not all the way through, therefore over time wear marks will result in the darker color showing through in the creases.

Tuscany Leather is Semi-Aniline, which is dyed for color with a smaller amount of topcoat applied, which allows the leather to feel softer and show more natural grain, while still providing color uniformity and some protection against wear.

Tehama Leather is Pure Aniline, which is dyed with no pigment or topcoat. This will have belly wrinkles and scars, and will develop a "patina" over time, like a worn-in bomber jacket.

Thanks, Tony. That's the best summary I've seen.
