My 2006 DTS heated windshield washer system worked about 4 times. Now the system appears to energize, as it pauses (normal) before it begins with a heated fluid application. But instead of the heated wash, the system simply responds "heated washer fluid system off" all in caps within the DIC (Driver Information Center). I took it to the dealer and they attempted to repair it, said that it was fixed and that it was tested several times. I took delivery of my car (it was about a week in the shop) tested it on the way home only to find the exact same discrepancy. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |

I assume you have checked and made sure there it is full of washer fluid. I think I would take it back to them again and make them fix it right. Sounds like some control for it is malfunctioning.
I can't think of anything that would make it give you that message. I don't see a way that you can turn it off manually or in the DIC.
Check it when you take delivery of it ... before you leave the dealer service dept to make sure they fix it right.

Let me tell ya I've had 5 tires replaced (all warranty) since I bought her, and I'm only pushing 18K for milage. The Continental tires are poor at best. Would you know where I could get me a trailer hitch (hidden) I have a custom motorcycle trailer and I would like to haul one of my scooters with me. So where in Texas are you from? I graduated high school in San Antonio, and since 1980 I've lived in Florida.
Thanks again

Never had a problem with wheel rotations. What problems are you having with that?
I have Bridgestone tires on this one. Original equipment. Pushing 30,000 and no trouble SO FAR.
I had Continentel on one of my other cars. They were really bad tires. Over time I had three of them replaced. At about 20,000 miles, got an adjustment credit on all four of them and replaced them with Michelin Hydro Edge. Have over 60,000 on the Michelin and no trouble at all.
Don't know anything about a trailer hitch for the DTS.
I am in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

You slow below 50 mph and the shimmy went away. Resume 65'ish and the shimmy returned. Took the car in and they recommended that I see them at 500 miles to allow a break-in. I did and the problem didn't go away. The dealer rotated, force load tested, balanced, etc... When the smoke cleared 4 tires were replaced. The right front twice, leaving one original on the car. When I had my oil changed and tires rotated the final and 5th Continental tire was replaced. I fear that there is another tire knocking at the door. Each instance of tire change the dealer confirmed it was the tire. When they squared away the first set the car drove like a dream, very smooth and quiet.
So you never heard of a hitch assembly for the DTS. Well I'm going to find one, if I have to get the boys at R+D to build me one
Thanks for the reply. |

And I agree about the Continental tires, they're absolute crap. They've always been unusually noisy, but within the last 5000 miles I've begun to experience other problems, and I have about 17,500 miles on them. If I weren't on a two year lease which expires next month, I would certainly be discussing full replacement with the dealer (at no expense to me, of course).
The only other time I can remember being diappointed with tires on my Cadillacs was the Michelin XW4s on my '94. The dealer quickly replaced them with XH4s and all was well. |

As for the tires, I know my dealership is HATING having to warranty out the crappy Conti's, but due to warranty rules and regulations we can ONLY replace the tires with the exact same OEM tire. We had a little stink with GM trying to get the ok to replace the craptastic conti's with much better Michelin's but they just weren't hearing anything like that so we are stuck with them, but on the bright side, theres a good possibility you won't ever have to pay for a tire until your warranty goes out. |

Finally got a credit on all 4 of them at about 20,000 .... after having three of them already replaced at various times.
Replaced them with Michelin. It has 90,000 on it now. No problems with tires since the replacement.
