I have a 2007 DTS. Am I just missing a setting or does the nav NOT read street names over audio? It says turn left or right, but never says the street name. My Nuvi does, Caddy doesnt?
Unfortunately, no it doesn't. And its been my experience that most of the factory installed Nav systems do not. From most of my research, people who seriously use their Nav systems on a daily basis prefer the aftermarkets to factory for a variety of reasons including the one you mention.

When it says to turn.....if you look at the screen, the name of the street or route number is highlighted.the "Tom-Tom" we have in one of our other cars does say it....And it was less than 1/3rd the cost.

1/3 the cost? Either an expensive handheld or NAV is cheaper in the DTS. My Garmin Nuvi was closer to 1/5 or 1/6 the cost of NAV on my Lade.....but the Lade does come w. a rear camera. Overall, the Garmin (or Tom-Tom) usually has more features (ie. street names) as well as the ability to use in motion....take with you into rental cars... etc After NAV on my 06 SRX, I am kinda turned off by factory units. The dash does look more exciting with them, of course.
Actually, it can have movies downloaded as well as music.... I care about neither and have tried neither. I think I need to buy something (like a media package) to actually get it to function as such.... which of course increases the price. I could not play videos in motion in my SRX (code did not work), so that feature was also useless. I never found the time or desire to sit in my driveway to watch a movie.
I know you upgraded to NAV, so not trying to put it down, but at factory cost (not like you did), it only makes sense to me if you use it a ton and don't like the look of dash without it. Just my opinion.
i know and i wasnt trying to put you down either
at 3k it is expensive to have stock
but at 280 bucks for a used unit and about 50 bucks in parts to install it and 600 dollar increase in trade in value i couldnt pass it up
for me i HATE wires, and couldnt deal with an after market stuck on my dash or windshield lol
