“Specifically” what does it show, where is the camera screen and how big
is it? (Or does it use the Nav screen?) I assume that it shows the blind spots,
which (for an old guy like me) would be very helpful. And, what does it cost
as an option?
Also, since I haven’t looked at an 08, is a back-up camera available that
shows in the Nav screen? I’ve seen this in a Lexus and it is great! Believe
me, the older you get, the more appealing these outside cameras appear.

Big Jimm,
Actually the Lane Departure SYstem and the Blind Spot Warning are two different systems. Kind of.
The Lane Departure System has a camera up by the rear view mirror that watches the white lines. When you get too closs to the left line... it
BEEPS at you and flashes a little light on the dash. It thinks you are drifting out of your lane and warns you.
"BUT" it only does that if you are not using your turn signal. If you
ARE using your turn signal to change lanes... it stays quite.
The Blind Spot System has a proximity radar built into the rear fender and a little
ICON in the right hand outside mirror. When someone is right by your
RIGHT REAR fender... where it is hard to see them... the little
ICON in the outside mirror is blinking. Therefore is you were going to change lanes to the
RIGHT, and looked in the right outside mirror... you would see the ICON
BLINKING and warning you that there is a car there.
At least that is the way I understand it. Someone will correct me if I am wrong. It was not available when I bought my 2006.
As far as back up cameras... they are available aftermarket, but not from Cadillac. I would like to have one also. It would be safer when you are backing up, plus I love
GADGETS.
