2008 Cadillac DTS Changes

Out of curiosity have things like the blend door problems, heated seats and a myriad of other problems that have existed on my 02 DHS been fixed on the newer models? I have always owned Caddys but the frustration with repairs on my current one has me at least thinking Japanese or even Buick.

Browsing the DTS portion of the Cadillac website today, I see that something called Bose Centerpoint surroundsound now comes on Luxury III and Performance sedans.

What exactly is that? Does one need to order the DVD navigation system in order to actually use this feature?

On a related note, many vehicles will allow you to play back a DVD movie while in Park. I understand that not displaying the video while driving is a safety concern; but when put in Drive, will the system continue to play back the movie's audio using the surroundsound?

I saw a "Double Espresso" with a Cashmere (?) Cloth Top added by my dealership--it looked gorgeous. How does the "Blue Diamond" compare to the '05 and '06 Blue Ice? And is the Black Ice basically a Metallic Black Raven? Also, has anyone seen the Linen Leather Interior? (I picture it to be like the 1999-2001 Oatmeal Shade of Leather?) It is great that Cadillac designers are coming up with new colors--Cadillac was always known for their elegant and uniquely available colors--an important aspect of achieving the cachet the brand has earned!

My wife's 2008 DTS has the both the analog dash clock and, of course, the digital clock in the navigation display. Both seem to be clearly visible both day and night.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the adaptive cruise control (as opposed to normal cruise control) was new for 2008. My wife's car has this, but it was necessary for Vogue to move the RADAR unit below the all-metal Vogue grill. The end result is that the adaptive cruise still works, but due to the lower position, the "Clean Radar" error message comes on more often. Since the cruise control is inoperative if the "Clean Radar" error is active, it can be a bit of a problem. The solution is to reduce the gap that the adaptive unit wants to maintain from the maximum of six car lengths to something less. I use two car lengths.

1.Are you saying that some weenie finally decided to put a digital clock on the navigation system and almost offer as much functionality as a $129 TomTom? Fantastic progress if yes.

2. Funny, I only get the clean radar message on my 2006 Adaptive Cruise Control when I drive in a hard rain. It clears up after I slow down. I like to use it when visibility is impaired as it sometimes pickus up cars in front of me before I can see them. Wonder if you can get an IFR rating for a DTS?

Nope........no IFR rating yet.

You will have to wait for HUD and NightVision like my '05 DTS had. The IFR rating requires all three.

Ted.... the Adaptive Cruise was available on the 2006 Performance Sedan.

From some of the pics I've seen, apparently they have added the clock to the Nav display. I expect that this addition will allow Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) insted of just Time Enroute. That would make available the option of selecting ETA like the 2007 manual says is available, but IS NOT.

Wonder if GM has any flash upgrade to the 2007 unit to add this feature to the software.
