Re: Back up Camera Solution through factory Navigation

That is impressive, I have no idea why they didn't do it from the factory, 2300 for nav and they cant spend the extra 200 to get a camera.

it's even better then that.
On 07 Escalade $2400 and change for a Nav, and camera is included
on 2007 Chevy's and GMCs, it's like $2200 for a nav and $150 option for a camera

Re: Back up Camera Solution through factory Navigation

Do you have any information on what we need to do to get backup camera.
Any info on kit such as the make, model and installer?

Also, has anyone installed a Bluetooth solution?

Question Re: Back up Camera Solution through factory Navigation

My 2007 DTS has the 6 CD radio (no in-dash display/monitor) and the ultrasound front/rear parking-assist alert lights. I am glad to have the parking assist system, but a rear video cam would sure make my backup/parking activities much safer. Does anyone know if a GM-Geek has determined a way to add a rear videocam that feeds to a display installed in the driver's vanity mirror? I would gladly sacrifice that vanity mirror for a rearward look.

Re: Back up Camera Solution through factory Navigation

Check out the Visor-View website - they have both an in-visor kit and a system to utilize the factory-installed nav screen.

Re: Back up Camera Solution through factory Navigation

I can get those modules for a lot less then I used to get them for. depends on how many I order. so $300 or less ( camera sold separate)
but the problem is: radio has to be taken apart. just like on older models escalades/yukons/tahoes/hummers/etc.
1. no wires cut
2. 100% plug and play
3. I can provide modifications for free (just pay for 2 way shipping)
4. I can also provide pics or may be video how it gets done

Re: Back up Camera Solution through factory Navigation

To YOURGMSOULUTIONS:

1. The video screen looks like the target car is directly behind you and the structures are on the right side of the car.

2. The shot showing your camera car has it on an angle to the target and the structures on the opposite side.

Strange camera optics...

If You have a friend who is forensic scientist, he can answer your question better.
What I suggest you to do, before you try to be a smart a$$ with me, go and sit on any vehicles with rear view camera, and you'll see that angles of some objects will change on the screen. all those effect appear depending an camera zoom angels and size of the viewing screen.

Could you give us a little more detail please? Do I need to pull the NAV/radio unit and send it to you for the mods? Does the $300 include the camera? Do I then have to run wires from the rear license plate/camera to the head unit or is it wireless?

Sorry for all the questions... I really would like to have one. My windows are tinted and it makes it hard to see at night when backing up.

Love the tint here in Texas in the daytime.... but not so crazy about it at night.

You'll have to pull nav radio out. now, you can do it your self/send it to me/or have somebody else localy do it for it.
yes you'll have to run wires in the back from your radio.
as far as camera. you'll have to buy it separately. and there are few other styles that I've used worked really good. Pioneer/Eclipse/Kenwood worked very good too, and I did not have to do anything in the license plate area

at the time when I did first one. I had to pay $450 just to mod the radio, and then plus cost of camera. so prices went down a lot on those modules
