Re: steering wheel controls

UPDATE:

I had my "DIM" reprogrammed today to remove the telephone option. Now, the phone button on the wheel does nothing. Looks as though the switches may be different (electrically) and need to be changed also.

Re: steering wheel controls

Can I do this modification without a scan tool? If I don't need a scan tool how do I gain access to the IPC and get it to work?

Re: steering wheel controls

mjflem,

For a '99, I believe that quantum's explanation (earlier in this same thread) should work for you.

Re: steering wheel controls

I can get to IPS03 Option C but then can not get the computer to list each option. I only get 'IPS03 Option C' with a value of 52. Am I missing something? Has anyone done this to a 99'.

Re: steering wheel controls

Has anyone had any success reprogramming the BCM, DIM, IPC (or whichever module controls this) to make the steering wheel controls work for the fan on a 2000 or newer Deville, if so, I have a few questions.

I seem to recall someone just having success in doing that.

Seems like who ever had success is keeping it a secret

Re: steering wheel controls

I did me 99 yesterday, changed the value from 48 to 32. Works great. The first time I tried i didn't notice that the value is displayed under the odometer. It's nice to have a use for those buttons know.
