Re: blown head gasket for 2years... 97 deville

Coolant and bearings do not play well together. The good thing is that it was not run. If that is any saving grace, I am not sure. Wait and see what one of our resident experts have to say. You may be looking at replacing the bearings as well as the head gaskets.

Re: blown head gasket for 2years... 97 deville

I thought that the oil and water didn't mix on these engines like on others. Either way, sitting for two years without being run is a very bad thing. If there is water in the engine, then it is most definately toast. If there was no water, then all the oil is gone from the upper part of the engine and it would be suicide to even consider cranking it without some preliminary surgery. Since you live in Florida I am assuming that the car is beautiful otherwise. I would buy a warrenteed engine for 3000 us and install it.

Re: blown head gasket for 2years... 97 deville

well today i took all the oil out and it looked liked brown slime. i put new oil and new oil filter and turn on the engine. it turns on but takes about 3 minutes to start, after the car has been on for about another 3 min it says to turn of engine. it starts to leak coolant from the water crossover and the surge tank is filled with exhaust gas.

It does mix..............eventually. It takes a lot longer, months of driving with bad gaskets will eventually erode them bad enough to leak coolant into the oil.
