    Question traction disabled light on

Hi everyone I just joined this wonderful community and have a question. My traction disabled light came on and i have no idea what that is or if i turned it off some how. What is traction and how can i turn it back on or do i need to? i would also like to know why my anti theft light keeps flashing on and off while i am driving. Thanks for you help.

    Welcome aboard!
I wish I could tell you that it's nothing but if I did I'd be lying. Sorry
The "Traction Disabled" light is telling you that there is something wrong with the system and therefore the "Traction Control System" has been disabled. It could be something as simple as a mis-matched tire on the car, or as complex as a harness short somewhere. I'd start by making sure that ALL tires are the same size, then make sure the wheel speed sensors are all plugged in at each wheel. Beyond that, you're gonna need a mechanic most likely. As for the anti theft light, you probably have a short somewhere (common issue) possibly one of the door switches.

Is your ABS light also on...or do you have any current DTCs(Diagnostic Trouble Codes) in the system? The traction control is pretty closely linked to the ABS I believe -- it uses the ABS to modulate the wheel speed if traction is lost. Like Kevin said, a wheel speed sensor may be the culprit because that's how the car knows how fast each wheel is turning, and when to apply the ABS if the speed gets out of control.
