Hey, I've got a 92 DeVille 4.9. I got it a few months ago. I kept having trouble with my van and with the economy the the way it is, I decided not to go for a loan. Decided just to buy something outright for a grand or so. I found this car at a local dealer for $1200. When I called, they told me that it was sold. I was bummed. So I went a few days later to check out an 02 sunfire. It turned out to be a piece of junk. Again I was bummed. On the way home, my phone starts ringing. It's the dealership. He asks if I'm still interested in the Caddy. He says that the guy that was interested in it dropped out. I was passing by the dealership at that moment, so I said I'd be there in five seconds. Turns out, the guy that was going to buy it, came in and test drove it, had them replace all the brakes, then called and said he wouldn't have the money for three or four weeks. He didn't put a deposit down or anything. His loss, my gain. I took it out and floored it to see how it would act. It ran great and straight as an arrow. There is no rust, everything works, less than 66,000 miles. I paid $1500 before tax, title and registration. Just over $2000 out the door. I just found out that it is governed around 112 mph. Does anyone know how to get around that and where performance parts can be bought? |

You can buy a chip to remove the speed limiter but there is really no reason to do it as it costs a few hundred dollars. Your tires are probably not rated for that speed and the car itself was sure as hell not designed to go that fast. Anything above that and they tend to get unnervingly floaty due to the aerodynamics.

I used to commute late night on the freeway and there weren't any cars on the road. I would do about 90 just to get home quicker. Once I pushed it to about 112 and it jumped back. The car didn't feel very safe at those speeds anyway. |

I have had my Brougham up to 105 and that was enough, especially when driving a 4800lb car. |

I purchased my 1992 DeVille in Jan of this year with 66,000 miles. Not a touring, just a base sedan but does have the 4.9 liter. Purchased for $2,700 w/o tax, title, reg. Currently has around 68,800 miles and just gave it a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, distributor, fuel filter and serpentine belt). So far it has been a great first cadillac for me and have received nice compliments b/c the exterior is still nice and so is the leather inside. Pics are in my gallery. |

Hi -- I have a 4.9L late model Fleetwood Coupe (1991 late model) -- black with gold medalion package -- the bottom with the skirts is all black too none of the silver look like some pictures -- slate grey leather interior -- love my black beauty with landau moonroof /opens all the way -- tinted windows -- purchased with 45K miles and drive 120 miles a day so she now has 145K -- when I bought her I motor silked her engine -- changed to royal purple oil with changed every 5K to 7K miles, use Chevron Tech low or mid range, changed the belts (serpentine), changed all oils and water (trans, brakes, radiator), had to replace the master brake -- and want to now figure out how to get my opera lights back on -- they were working for a while after I purchase but no one seems to know how to fix them (not even the local cadillac dealer in Carlsbad California) -- want to get my bose gold series system CD player working which wasn't at 45K when I bought her -- and need to fix air shocks (ccr) and auto antenna. -- any suggestions or help will be great -- I can tell you as a blonde female -- the guys are always trying to buy my car right out from under me -- maybe they want to make it a low-rider (lol) but I plan to keep her stock -- her baseball top is fine -- the clear coat only on the rubber trim is peeling, and there's a little plastic fading on the back of the side mirror, and below the rear fender by the license plate just need to know some detail tricks -- been doing it myself cause I don't trust just anyone. I'd like to do some extra to my car, trick her out, knowing she looks great right now just like I just drove her off the showroom floor. Need to keep her this way too. I am the second owner. I recall Sandy has production information -- I read once there may have only been 1000 of my color, make, style, etc. in USA. If this is true I'd like to veify this information -- please direct me where to find. PLEASE share any ideas for parts location, and joining the rare club for 2-door fleetwood -- like to know more about this special -- rare gem -- thank you Jewel

I have a 91 and a 92 Sixty Special so I'm a true Cadillac guy. Like yours, my 92 is triple black with a big mother moonroof. Would love to see yours. |

I just bought 1993 Sixty Special off Ebay 86K mi. It was originally from Memphis via Indiana and Michigan. Nice condition, no rust or dings. Had a few minor issues trunk hold down broken and needed a new AC compressor but otherwise nice. 60 Special3.jpg 60 Special2.jpg 60 Special.jpg
It joins my more common 1991 Maroon Sedan DeVille 90K, and 93 Sedan DeVile Beige 34k miles. I've realized my childhood dream of owning a fleet of Cadillacs! | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
