My fathers 1994 Deville Concours bit the dust today, the head gasket was the cause of death. It had 140k. We bought it used for $5000 with 88k. He loved it and is in the market for a new Deville.

Any suggestions on what years and options were better than others. He is also a pretty price conscience guy. So a new 2006 DTS is out of the question. Thanks

Re: '94 concours, blown head gasket. need new caddy.

Hey fpmesiIII,

Sorry to hear about the head gasket, whatcha gonna do with it now?

A quick scan of my favorite site, Ebay and I found this in Long Island, 1998 Concours 61K for $5500.00!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...QQcmdZViewItem

Good luck, hope it helps. I happen to love driving my 98 Concours.

stupid suggestion, but get more than one opinion(if not already done). I have seen several misdiagnosed blown hg's
sorry to hear it if true

Re: '94 concours, blown head gasket. need new caddy.

yeah I am pretty sure it is a blown head gasket. It has been having problems with keeping the coolant in, its been leaking everywhere. and a good buddy that is pretty knowldgeable says that its a head gasket issue. he can still drive the car. but we dont know for how much longer.

Re: '94 concours, blown head gasket. need new caddy.

For under $8,000, you can get a nice, low mile '97-'99 Concours. They'd have all the features your father would need, seeing as how they were the flagship deVille with the most standard features. And, it would be a bit quicker because of the 30 horsepower increase..

Re: '94 concours, blown head gasket. need new caddy.

I'am trying to convince him to the 2000 and beyond DeVilles. He likes the styling and it would be different from his previous '94. He likes the DTS and DHS for the built in emlbem in the grill look. Whats a good price for a 2002 DTS or DHS with around 80k-100k miles?

I guess in 2002 all DTS and DHS got tire pressure monitoring, which will be helpful for him. any other suggestions for years and options?

Re: '94 concours, blown head gasket. need new caddy.

My brother is asking $12,500 for his 2003 DTS:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200042187529

That should give you an idea of what they are bringing.

Best of luck!

Re: '94 concours, blown head gasket. need new caddy.

Go for 2004 DTS nothing less.

Heated and A/C front Seats Plus heated Steering wheel . look for three (3)
buttons on Left side of Steering wheel.

The big feature is "stabilitrack" on DTS model only. Do not buy the std Deville 95% are designed for the rental , lease and the quick second owner market.

regards

See if you can get an engine from a wrecking yard or something. There has to be something you can do to resurrect the car. It is not like it was that rare an automobile. See if you can change the headgsket yourself?
