I installed a stock GM (Denso)

Remove this ad
I installed a stock GM (Denso) Navigational Head unit in my 02 DTS. I had the Bose option and went in well. I moved the wires about as per the instruction that I found in the Caddy forum. The only thing I did not do was get the smaller 4 plug wire set up; I looked around (web and ebay and local electronic stores) and could not find the plug itself. I want to know how people have gotten around this issue. Did they make a plug, find one on eBay, or like me and just did not connect it.

Re: I installed a stock GM (Denso)

srxs believe it or not had the same navi hook up and the same plug maybe you can find one there

does everything else work with the simple hook up or did you have problems even getting the unit itself to work

also you just paid something like 800 for that didnt you?

Re: I installed a stock GM (Denso)

I had to replace the antenna that came with it (2 short).
It works great, once I swapped around the wires. The cost was about, 500.00
I think.

Re: I installed a stock GM (Denso)

yuh ive been doing my research if you look up they use the same wires and hook up to the screen as for the srx. the only difference is the srx's drive is seperate form the actual unit. youll see what i mean if you look it up. maybe you can find one there? also im working on installing this in my 97 eldo, only problem is idk if ill have the speed wire which i need to get the navi functions to work, i already found a way to get theft lock in my 97 etc, so im sure i could get the radio and cd part to work but getting basic (i.e. without voice command) of the unit will probably be difficult without that wire... could you tell me the color of that wire please? or better send me a pic of what the wire looks like cuz odds are if you say blue there will be like 3 blue wires. other than that i have the install down pat i believe

oh and the reason why i though it was 800 i was watching their most recent one and it went for 800

EDIT heres an srx navi notice the same hook ups?

Re: I installed a stock GM (Denso)

This is what I used to swap my wire around. I really do not know what color the wire is u are talking about. I get kind of freaked when I remove the navi unit from car. It comes out kind of hard. But maybe this link will aid u.

Here you go Good Luck

Re: I installed a stock GM (Denso)

yea i know all about that link thats kinda what im using for my install, however i cant seem to find the speed wire, and in the instructions it doesnt state what color it is. hence why im asking you the color of the wire referd to in this instruction
"3. Remove wire from pin F4 and install in pin F2 This is the speed sensor signal. With out this signal the nav radio does not know the car is moving. This will bring back the turn by turn voice guidance."
