Re: what is 98 Deville's towing capacity?

Without the Optional Towing package, 1000pounds, with it, 3900 pounds. If you have the optional package, it will say on the RPO sheet on the sparetire cover, you will have to look it up as it will not jump out at you.

Re: what is 98 Deville's towing capacity?

Anyone know what the towing package includes? I have looked it up and it was only $110.00 option, I can't believe they could add much more then an electricle plug for that price.. Also I think the towing package option was v92 Cadillac history 1998

Re: what is 98 Deville's towing capacity?

Was there a towing option on the 96 Deville? I looked in the back and I did notice an electrical towing plug...not sure if thats optional...if it did, what did it add to the car? Thanks!

Re: what is 98 Deville's towing capacity?

After some google research, I think the towing package inclues not only the class II hitch but also tranny cooler and engine cooler. I ordered a tranny cooler. Hopefully I can find some space to mount it.

Thanks for the information. I tried but I only could find the sparetire instruction on the sparetire cover. Is there any other place I can find the RPO sheet? What is RPO anyway? Thank again!

Re: what is 98 Deville's towing capacity?

In the trunk under the carpet, the spare tire cover lifts up, along with instructions on how to change your tire, there is a little 3 x 5 inch sheet with a bunch of 3 character codes, eg. AG1, AN0, etc. When you find it, then take a piece of paper and write them all down, it will start with your vin and end with the paint codes for the car. RPO stands for Regular Production Order/Options. When you have written them down then do a search for a post by Sandy called RPO, it will tell you everything that was supposed to be on that car from the factory. Your car may already have the oil cooler, look down at the front radiator. Make sure when you get the hitch that your rear bumper does not have to be 'modified' (cut) on the STS models, they have to do some surgery to mount the hitch.
