Creeking Sound update and a Question

Remove this ad
Previously I listed on the fourm a problem with the right rear suspention making a creeking sound, much like a sound made if you rubbed your hand on a balloon. Well I found out today what the problem is. The problem is a bad bushing in the suspention knuckle which is between the upper and lower rear A frame. I have one comming from a reclaiming yard. New, the dealer wanted $600 plus for the part and labor. I was able to find a good one for $125.00 plus shipping, bid difference.

My question is does any one know the procedure to change this out? I would like to do this my self. It looks prety streight forward and I assume that with the suspention supported it should essentially just unbolt from the upper and lower A frame. Am I correct? any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Mike OConnor

Re: Creeking Sound update and a Question

I am glad that you found the problem, that is what mine was, I have not decided if I was going to fix it or replace the car and make it my winter beater. As for changing it out, the FSM is not very clear on how to go about doing it, with the air ride, I assume you will have lock out the compressor from kicking on, there is a new thread on the seville forum about some parts depot that people are raving over, I looked at it and found the knuckles and control arms for sale there for about half the price of what the dealer wanted. Good luck and if you do it, please post and let us know how it turns out.
