Creeking noise in rear

Remove this ad
I have got an anoying creeking sound comming from the right and left rear wheel area. The car is a 1999 Deville with 56,000 miles. I jacked the car up and took off the rear tires and soaked all the moveable joints first with PB Blaster and then with WD40. I still have the creeking noise what might this be?

If anyone has any idea please let me know.

Thanks
Mike OConnor

Re: Creeking noise in rear

Funny, I also have a creaky noise from the rearwheel area. Sounds like rubbing a balloon. Just had strutmasters passive system put in, so its probably related to that. My mechanic drove it around the block and then told me it was the sound of leather in the backseat, making a new sound because the car moves differently with the new struts. Quite a story (it's definitely not leather making the noise!)... I think he didn't want to remove the wheels again.

Re: Creeking noise in rear

I have the same problem as well, only it looks like the upper control arm bushings are shot, and I have to replace both the knuckles, I also have the same sound at the front and it sounds like stryofoam being rubbed, I think its the tires hitting the inside plastic wheel wells and rubbing, it only does it under braking. I do know one thing though, it is not going to be cheap to fix, I think I will buy a 2003 DTS, and make this one with 48,000 miles on it my winter beater.

Re: Creeking noise in rear

The rubber bushings inner sleeve may be moving on the bolt.
Tightened up the bolt nut on mine the noise went away now nice and quiet
