Good Head Gasket Health

I think about the head gaskets on my 91 deville alot. It's one of those things where there is no problem but you dread the idea of there being one. I'm not so afraid of doing the work to replace the head gasket as I am ruining the engine by not identifying the problem soon enough. I know the good cooling system maintanence plays a large role in protecting against head gasket failure. I was wondering if anyone else had an idea about keeping the 4.9's head gaskets healthy.

Head gaskets problems are pretty rare on the 4.9's. Change the coolant every 2 years and relax.

Ditto Ranger - and don't forget the sealant pills!
You don't mention the miles on your car. In my experience if the head gaskets are going to go they usually fail at less than 60k.
