First check the codes and see if you have any codes that are talking about the rear suspension system one off the top of my head is c0625 which has to do with the sensor. If you hear air coming from the back, it is most likely the rubber bladders wear out overtime dry rot and then make the compressor work a lot harder than it goes out. When you start the car do you hear about 10 seconds in the compressor for the beer runs for about 5 to 7 seconds and then stops if it needs air to fill up the car it runs a little longer. The compressor is physically above the right-hand muffler behind the right rear tire.
It could just be a leak in the air line. Spray the connections and shock boots with soapy water when the compressor is running.
