Security Ghost Returns

A few months back I posted about my 2001 DTS battery post corroding off, and the escapades with the car getting it jumped.

Well after a new battery the car has been fine for a month, until last night. Looks like the security system kicked in again, not allowing my wife to get the keys out or start it. This morning I go to her work (luckily its close to home!) and get the car jumped and started. Battery charge looks fine at the moment, but the security light remains on, and I am afraid to shut it off!

This battery is less than a month old in the car, does it appear I have an alternator issue at hand? And can I get the code without shutting the car off?

Well went out turned car off,and now it wont start, no lights even. Going to clean and the the post on battery and see what happens.

Check the battery cable for corrsion under the insulation. If there is any power at all, run the codes.

Battery was bad, Murray's replaced it today and car is fine again. Their tests showed it getting to hot, and gave me a new one.

I did a thorough cleaning of the posts and such just to be safe. More to come, good news only I hope!

Hello Jedimole,
I too am a junior member. I would like to say that I have had VERRRRRRY bad experiences from Murrays auto. I was told by an employee that many of the products they sell are reconditioned or rebuilt. I would suggest using OEM parts (A.C. Delco) if you can find them without paying the dealer prices.
