Body control module or Programme?

I just received my shinny new BCM Part #16242069. This is the part number that cadillac gave for my 1996 DeVille/Northstar. I got behind the glove box and removed the old one only to find that the connectors do not match. Same pin setup but different plastic guides. Also the part number on the old one is #16228266 which GM parts direct says is a Programme (whatever that is). The boxes look to be identical. Any help would be appreciated.

The "Programmer" aka ACM (Air Conditioning Module) is basically the brain of the HVAC system much like the PCM is the powertrain brain.

OK, then I am looking in the wrong place for the BCM. I understood it to be behind the glove box. Is the BCM located on the passenger side of the firewall? Thanks for the help Ranger. You make a lot of people happy with your advice. Harry

I think you are looking in the right place. It should be behind the glove box I believe or in that vicinity.
