Thread: P1860 code

    P1860 code

    2000 deville with P1860 code. I understand that its a code for a TCC solenoid and I have read all about it. Could this be set by a bad brake/cruise control switch? no other codes

    It's the TCC actuator solenoid - a dedicated, monitored circuit.

    Hmm okay...why is it that when I move the brake or cruise control switch I get a P0741 on top of the 1860? what is triggering that?

    The TCC monitoring system, fed by a slew of circuits and fault conditions, is telling you that the TCC is stuck OFF....... because the control solenoid is dead.

    I never - never - use cruise so I never saw the P 0741 when I had the P 1860.

    Cruise is irrelevant. I get P0741 with or without the cruise. If you have P1860, it will also set P0741. That's why you got it.

    Never saw a P 0741. Not once........... either in the car DIC scanner or the ScanGauge-II.

    Scan, codes, P 1860, clear codes, SES off, back to gauges.

    That's odd. P1860 usually sets P0741.

    My 02 FSM says the test for P0741 will not run if P1860 is already set. But my experience was similar to yours Ranger - the 2 codes came together.

    That would explain why Sub never saw P0741, but the TCC was inoperative with the P1860. It just wasn't advertizing it.
