    P1860 code

2000 deville with P1860 code. I understand that its a code for a TCC solenoid and I have read all about it. Could this be set by a bad brake/cruise control switch? no other codes

    Re: P1860 code

It's the TCC actuator solenoid - a dedicated, monitored circuit.

    Re: P1860 code

Hmm okay...why is it that when I move the brake or cruise control switch I get a P0741 on top of the 1860? what is triggering that?

    Re: P1860 code

The TCC monitoring system, fed by a slew of circuits and fault conditions, is telling you that the TCC is stuck OFF....... because the control solenoid is dead.

    I never - never - use cruise so I never saw the P 0741 when I had the P 1860.

    Re: P1860 code

Cruise is irrelevant. I get P0741 with or without the cruise. If you have P1860, it will also set P0741. That's why you got it.

    Re: P1860 code

Never saw a P 0741. Not once........... either in the car DIC scanner or the ScanGauge-II.

Scan, codes, P 1860, clear codes, SES off, back to gauges.

    Re: P1860 code

    That's odd. P1860 usually sets P0741.

    Re: P1860 code

My 02 FSM says the test for P0741 will not run if P1860 is already set. But my experience was similar to yours Ranger - the 2 codes came together.

    Re: P1860 code

That would explain why Sub never saw P0741, but the TCC was inoperative with the P1860. It just wasn't advertizing it.
