2005 Deville stutters at all speeds: no codes coming up

At first I thought maybe the throttle body was just dirty but I don't think the engine would stutter at idle if it was that. So maybe its a dirty injector?? I have no clue. Anyone have more ideas?

    just to be clear -
are you saying that you actually pulled the codes -
and there are no codes stored?

or are you saying there are no messages displayed on the DIC -

At first I thought maybe the throttle body was just dirty
    have you inspected the TB?

I'l saying that there's no current codes showing that could show what makes it stutter. My only current code that comes up is a b0429 but that wouldn't make the car stutter.

Might be plugs or a coil. How many miles on it?

At THAT mileage, plugs & coils should not be a problem, but stranger things have happened. You could take it to AutoZone and have them run your codes to see if there is a specific cylinder that is misfiring, but with no P0300 code I doubt you'll find one.

When was the TB last cleaned?

I have an '02 Eldorado ETC with 85k that would stutter almost all the time, ended up being the plenum gasket. A couple of months later my '03 Deville with 135k started doing the same thing. Ended up being the plenum gasket. The '02 STS hasn't had an issue with it yet though. With a stuttering car though you surely should be getting some PCM codes. What are your history codes? Those can tell a big story too, something clearly malfunctioned in order to set those codes, so don't rule them out either.

Yeah, a plenum duct tear will almost ALWAYS set a P0171 & P0174 code.

I did take it to autozone to scan it but there were no codes coming up. I don't know when the TB was last cleaned. I haven't even had it for a year yet.

Is there a difference between what the auto scan tool pulls and what the dash displays when you pull the codes yourself? I always thought they did the same thing?

Clean the TB. It's free, easy and most likely is way overdue anyway and just might solve your problem.

The only difference is the onboard diagnostics will only give a generic misfire detected code of P0300 while a scanner will narrow it down to the specific cylinder IE: P0304 or P0307 etc, etc.

When I went to autozone they found no codes throughout the system but when I did the onboard I found the codes for the blend door.

I think AZ's scanner only checks P codes.
