Just counted up so far and found that the average age is 32, the youngest is 15 and the oldest (me) is 63...5 years older than the next oldest. That hurts. |

I'm impressed with the young ages of Cadillac owners here also. Since I've been reading this post, I've been looking at drivers of Cadillacs and yes, many are very young. I got my first Cadillac when I was 27, my second at age 30 and most recently an '05 DeVille - age 64 (65 in 20 days). |

Any time I get reminded like this I turn to the opening page of my leather bound owners manual and read through "The Penalty of Leadership". The price we who have been around pay for being in front... well maybe, just as long as all the kids don't start calling us geezers!!!! |

I started out at age 18. Discovered my mechinical mind under the previous ownership of a '88 Olds Delta 88, 178,000 (bulletproof car, no matter what anyone else says) and a '92 Taurus 142,000 (the junker of all junk). With that, I bought a perfect '92 Deville in the need of headgaskets for $2000. Did complete gasket change on engine and valve seals. The most perfect, beautiful car until 1-1/2 later when I got rearended and it was totalled. With the $4500 from the insurance company (yes, I MADE money on that car) I invested in a '95 Deville which I currently own. Paid $2200. Another perfect Deville in need of mechanical work. Engine hardly ran. Tore down, another gasket change, another set of valve seals, and she's perfect. Problem turned out to be 2 bad injectors, and the previous owner messing with ignition (trying to figure out the problem) by putting on WRONG distributor cap with only 2 screws allowing moisture to accumulate, and crossing wires. 136,000 on the 4.9 and it runs like what day 1 was probably like had I seen it at new.
-Haha, I just realized, never in my life have I owned a car under 100,000 miles...actually, this 136,000 mile car is my lowest.
-Die Hard GM Fan! (Taurus driven because of desperate need for vehicle after '92 Deville accident) |

Maybe you, krimson cardnal and I and a few others should form a kind of DeVille-AARP- "give me my damn discount" group. We may no longer be able to crawl under our cars to take a look at something but we are "oozing" wisdom and experience. Or maybe it is just a bladder leak.
BTW, the first car I ever owned was a 1938 Plymouth Sedan that I bought for $50 in 1955. I was 14 years old but I drove it anyway. |

Glad to be of service . Forget the AARP - I still change my own oil and filters. Already have 9900 miles on the '05 and did first change two weeks ago. Occasionally, mess around with other stuff.
Do not expect to have to do that for a while with the '05.
My first car was a '48 Studebaker with O.D. and hill hold. Just saw a Chevy ad touting "Hill Hold Assist" on one of their new models.
Your'e welcome Krimson Cardnal. |

I'm 54 and on my 15th car/truck since my 1st car in 1967 a 1965 T Bird convertible , on my 3rd Cadi. 1st Cadi was a 1980 Elderado desil I got in 1990 that had 140,000+mi and as much rust around the sun roof, but drove pretty much problem free for 20,000 more mi before repair exceed my then budget , 2nd was a 1985 Fleetwood RWD,with 90,000 mi that got stolen after 2yrs flawless service and 40,000 mi more and current is 1995 Deville with 55,000 mi that is in very good condition but so much better than my previous Cadi's that my wife thinks I got it for her now. I do get to drive it occasionally. Looking for my 4th Cadi I guess, |

I tend to keep my cars for a long time...this is only my 5th car! I've always been a fan of 4-door sedans...even when I was younger and all my friends had sports coupes, I always had a 4-door car. Going backwards from the Deville:
1994 Ford Taurus SHO
1988 Mazda 323GT
1986 Audi 5000 Turbo
1984 Nissan Sentra (my only 2-door car)
The Deville is by far my favorite so far. I bought it used in 2003 with 18K miles on it (it now has 30K). It's in great shape...I've had no trouble with it at all. I smile everytime I get in it...it's really a great car.
