The rest of my "collection" includes a 2005 BMW 530i with 8400 miles (words alone just cannot describe the driving experience), a 1972 Monte Carlo with 99K miles (my absolute pride & joy), a 1968 Riviera with 99K miles (talk about a pimp ride), and a 1985 Cutlass with 53K miles (currently for sale).
The first and second Cadillac I ever drove both belonged to my grandmother. Her first was a 1984 Coupe DeVille, white & burgundy leather -- very sweet car! The second and her last Caddy was a 1992 Sedan Deville, white, blue leather & carriage top, and gold package -- also a sweet ride. Ever since then I decided someday I'd have a Cadillac, used or new, it didn't matter.
Cheers ~

I've had several major problems but at this age (the car) I think it is normal. I've had to replace the break system, the transmission, and now am having minor A/C problems. The guy who replaced the transmission said that the car was treated very rough by the previous owner even a motor mount was busted, but it is just fine now. It is great to drive. The A/C problem is minor and I will get it recharged in Feb. |

I'm 34, and have had my DeVille for a year now, and wanted one from the first day I saw one brand new sitting on a dealer's lot back in 1993. First Cadillac I've ever owned, 14th vehicle I've owned. I adore this car, and want to park a matching white-on-white-on-white 78 Eldorado Biarritz next to it some day.

Just turned the big Five-0 and on my second Caddy, a '97 deVille. Still have the first one, an '88 deVille that I "pawned off" on my mother - her words not mine...
I can't believe how many really young Cadillac owners there are on this board; that's terrific !! When I bought my '88 deVille I was 33 and all my friends looked at me like I'd just lost my mind -- "What are you doing driving an old man's car??", "Get a Porsche !!" No thanks, says I. I'll stick with GM.
Vehicles I've loved (or hated) over the years:
1972 GMC 1/2 ton pickup (bought it used - my "first car")
1974 Chev C1500 1/2 ton pickup (crappy 250 CID 6 inline -- embarrasing at traffic lights because it sounded like a Nova in a bad mood, traded to a ...)
1976 GMC 3/4 ton Sierra Classic pickup (454 CID, factory duals, but burned more oil than gas, traded to a ...)
1975 Buick Electra Limited sedan (sweet car, amazing highway cruzer, last GM product I had where the AC lasted longer than 2 years...)
1980 Buick Electra Limited sedan (nice car but full of electrical gremlins, traded to a ...)
1982 GMC Caballero (aka El Camino) (wish I had kept it - almost a collectors item these days)
1987 Buick Electra T-type sedan (never could get used to a V6 in a luxury car - the motor vibrated so bad it literally shook the dashboard - you could watch it shaking - wife hated it so we traded to a ...)
1988 Cadillac deVille sedan (very nice car, back in "V8 heaven once again!!"; still have it - well, mother has it...)
1992 Chev K1500 Silverado pickup (show me a more reliable engine than the 350 - I dare you !! 575,000 km (360,000 miles) - "Like A Rock" - never a truer word said)
1996 GMC Safari cargo van (work truck so who cares...)
1997 Cadillac deVille (just picked it up for a decent price, so hopefully it will be OK)
- the end- |

I'm impressed even by this 15 year old car so I can only imagine having a late 90's model. I'd like to move up to a N* someday except all the head gasket horror stories are scaring me. Well that and I dont have the money for one yet anyway. |
