    $3,000 for a 3 year, 100K warranty. Yes/No?

So my 2000 Deville High-Luxury Sedan has 24,000 miles and the warranty runs out on December 10th for the bumper to bumper.

Money does matter so I am looking for opinions as to whether I will get my $3,000 worth in repairs in the next three years or not considering I drive about 25,000 miles per year? It is the GM warranty--bumper to bumper extension and it will cost $1,600 more after 12/10 for the same warranty.

To buy or not to buy?

That seems really steep..... Id look at www.autowarrantybrokers.com and see if you can compare.... Their extended warranties are very competitive to the factory warranty (and maybe even more inclusive!)

i would not buy anything but the gm protection plan (major guard) with zero deductable.

LONE.......Thats a tough question ! I have been lucky with
my Caddies. Since I buy them new and run them to
5-6 yrs. and100k miles. The few problems I have had came under factory warranty. No major stuff except struts at around 100k so I traded my 96 anyway.

Normal stuff like tune up, oil changes, brakes and tires
    thats it.............

If you decide on extended warranty go with GMPP plan
that covers EVERYTHING. Esp. those PIA struts and
    electric goodies !

Shop the net for GMPP because MOST dealers discount
them on line ! Don't pay full shot !

Beware of aftermarket companies! They are cheaper
BUT will they BE THERE a year or 2 down the road ?
A few of them have gone down the tubes and
reorganized and back in business! (warranty gold is one)
    Ripping off poor folks !
I know personally a few folks that have bought them
    and got stuck!

BTW: I don't have my 03 Devilles warranty book handy
isn't the Caddy factory warranty for 4 yrs / 50k miles?
Even if you bought it used you are still covered...
But i think you will pay a $100 deductible.
You can buy a GMPP warranty up untill the end of
your factory warranty...buy NOT after it expires !

good luck and keep us posted........geo

Your factory warranty is good for 4 years from original delivery date or 50,000 miles.
If you have major repairs after that point that GMPP will be a very good buy for you.
I went with the 100$ deductable plus will give you a rental if you need one.

The DHS was put into service on 12-10-1999. One of the first so it does indeed expire on 12-10-2003.

I am leaning toward the purchase but my father said that these extended warranties are a rip off. He said, "you only buy insurance for things you cannot afford to replace yourself"

    Thoughts?

GOOD POINT you have to look at your financial situation!
last june at 30k we had the lower gaskets replaced on our 1999 sls.
two day job almost $2500 for parts and labor plus they gave us a loaner caddy.
was paid in full under extended warranty.
AND WE STILL HAVE COVERAGE FOR ANY FUTURE PROBLEMS!
we paid about $3000 for gm warranty.
a couple of big repairs would put a dent in our budget.
THAT IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO FIGURE!
good luck in whatever you decide

I tend to agree with your father. Personally I wouldn't worry with such low miles. I have 25,XXX miles and drive with confidence that a quality vehicle should not let you down to the amount of 3,000.

With anything used you are taking a chance. What is the history of the car, did some old dude baby it, or was it leased? $3,000 buys a lot of gasoline!

It all depends I guess on your situation.... I DIY, so a warranty really isnt in the cards for me...... PLus, I dont have that much money to cough up at any given time, but I can be nickeled and dimed.....!!
