Re: new blower motor not turning on

Bad blower speed switch, blower resistor problem, no ground, lack of voltage to blower motor.

Blower motor schematic will be needed.

Re: new blower motor not turning on

Thank you Mr. Starks for the speedy image......

Not too much to this circuit, check maxi fuse, voltage at blower motor from fuse. Check for ground at blower motor.

Worst case scenario, you need the a/c and heater programmer

    ----------

Check fuse to see if it is blown.

You will need a test 12v test light for further testing.

From the diagram, the blower motor looks like it has a 3 pin connector.

Pin "A" is ground, Pin "B" is 12 v "HOT" at all times, Pin "C" is the controller line.

With the 3 pin connector removed from the blower motor, with the test light you're jumping pin "A" to pin "C". If the test light lights up, this will confirm you have voltage from the fuse at pin "C" and ground at pin "A".

With that eliminated, you're back tracing pin "B" to the a/c and heater programmer.

If the blower switch is available separately on the a/c control head, that will be more than likely the suspect.

Re: new blower motor not turning on

Sean you can't just jump pin A to pin C, you need a test lamp to do that.

If you have sparks, OBVIOUSLY, you have voltage from the fuse line (pin c) to ground (pin a). Double check the fuse to make sure you haven't blown it.

To connect the test light to the terminals, stick a piece of wire into each terminal. Then connect one end of the test light to one end of the terminals, the opposite end if the test light to the other terminal. The lamp should light up then.

In reality, you already have voltage if you're getting sparks.

You're problem is going to be in the control head

The control head is where you actually manually turn on the heater/ a/c and control the fan speed.

Let me look up how this thing looks

    ----------

The light should have lit up with one end of the light attached to pin a, while the other end of the light attached to pin c. That means you have voltage from pin c, and a good ground at pin a.

    ----------

The programmer is located under the dash, more so to the passengers side. Black box that appears to have vacuum lines running to it and electrical connections.

I'll see if I can get a part number on it ......

    ----------

According to what I've found you need a 16180786 or a delco 15-72247, which isn't cheap.

    The search continues.............

The instrument panel has the buttons, the programmer does the "actual" controlling or switching of the blend doors and speeds.

Rock auto.com lists the programmer and the blower resistor for a 94 Deville with a 4.9 but researching the programmers uusually turns up the programmer as the main issue. You can possibly try a used one, but that one may have an issue with it also.

Rock auto part number for the programmer through Standard Motor products is PRG10, with the core charge you're looking at 184.79

    That part replaces 16180786,16192686,16210961.

You might be able to you those numbers as reference to find a possible used replacement if not going the remanufactured route....

Re: new blower motor not turning on

Parts of the programmer still work, obviously not all functions.

There is probably a way to test the programmer, but we need probably need the factory service manual.

    ----------

I'm researching some other things pertaining to this.....hold on
