Yes, with ac off it does not spin, when you turn ac on it energizes the clutch and the compressor turns. If i get to my computer i will post link to my bad ac compressor so you can see exactly what it looks like.

    Do you have any codes?
There is an AC compressor relay under the hood you might want to swap with another and see if it comes on.

    no codes
i checked the relay its good.
does the system have to have Freon in it for the compressor to operate?
also the heater doesent work.. i disconnected the outlet hose at the heater core where the water travels out the heater core and no water came out..what does that mean..

Yes, there has to be refrigerant in the system. If the pressure gets low enough, a code is set, the compressor is disabled, and a message is displayed.

If no coolant came out with that hose disconnected, either the system is low on coolant, or there are clogs.

but i checked there is no codes displayed.. i think my system has no Freon in it.
well im good on coolant.where could the clogs be..could that cause the heater not to work?

If you are low on refrigerant and turn on the A/C, it will set a low refrigerant code.

You must be sure you have ENOUGH refrigerant. If you do, then the next step would be checking electrical connections, fuses, clutch etc. This of coarse is assuming you are talking about the compressor and not the blower as the title suggests (I haven't been following this thread real closely).

how can i see if i have enough refrigerant..
well i checked relay it was good, fuse was good, bypassed the relay by jumping terminals to engage the clutch and it clicked so i guess thats good..
the blower problem is solved we are on the ac and heater system now

With the age of your vehicle and the fact that you haven't operated that system in quite some time, I'd write off the compressor and the drier.

Personally, I would replace the compressor, the drier and the orifice tube and be done with it

By checking your high and low pressure readings with an A/C manifold gauge set. Or by having it recovered and weighed.
