I just noticed that you started a new thread about the same problem -
    that is a BIG NO-NO -
I'm sure one of the mods will merge your posts -

    ==================================

have you checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes -

if you don't know how - go here and read the ENTIRE post -

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...odes-dtcs.html

if you have any codes - post them here -
    ALONG WITH THEIR DEFINITIONS -
    -------------------------

there are several built-in safety devices -
that will prevent the compressor from engaging -

if using a test light - or DVOM -
do you have power at the compressor clutch?

if YES - and the clutch IS engaged -
the compressor might be seized -
but I would expect the clutch to be making a LOT of noise -

OR the clutch is burned out - and NOT actually engaging -
even though it is receiving power -

    Re: ac compressor troubleshooting

there is power at the cluth and it does engage.it just makes a normal clicking noise..so does that mean the compressor is seized?

so does that mean the compressor is seized?
no - if the clutch was engaged - and the compressor was seized -
the clutch would be screeching like crazy - along with smoke and sparks -

IF the clutch is engaged -
and IF the compressor is NOT seized -
you will see the compressor clutch pulley spinning -

    ----------------------

if you have by-passed all the "safety" measures protecting the compressor -
the compressor might be turning - but NOT producing any cold -

    -------------------

freon carries the oil that lubricates the compressor pistons -

if you continue running the compressor without freon -
you WILL seize it up -

just to be sure we are talking about the same thing -
    watch this youtube video -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvOFHexLTGU
it shows an AC compressor clutch engaging - and disengaging -

compare what you see here - and what yours is doing -

Back to what I had stated,
