13x7 or 14x7 wire wheels on 93 SEDAN DEVILLE

Hi, havent been on here in awhile. I still have my 1993 cadillac sedan deville but not the 97. This guy has some 14x7 wire wheels for sale and i was wondering will they work on my 93 sedan deville without having to do any modifications. I was thinking about putting them on then heading straight over to the shop to get a wheel alignment. Or maybe some 13x7z. If you know anybody that has done this that can give me a straight forward answer. Please i dont need opinions. Right now the car is sitting on 17 inch wire wheels. The rear in the left keep slicing my tires barely and its just nerve wrecking to see the smallest slit in the tire. Basically, would it poke out the rear and still get sliced up? And if you know anybody that had a 93 or have a 93 on 13x7z or 14x7z, could you post a pic? SORRY FOR THE LONG MESSAGE. Long day, tired. Thanks.

It's impossible to tell you weather or not the rims will fit with only the diameter and width specs.

    What is the bolt pattern?

    What is the offset?

I'm not sure 13's would even clear the brake calipers.

The 17's you have on there now aren't rubbing because they're too large, they're rubbing because the offset is incorrect, and the tires may be the wrong size as well

17" rims will fit easily IF you select the proper tire size. what tire size do you have? so many 17" tires used on hondas. grab a used set of 205/40/17 tires for $50 each. that is a very common ricer size. That tire will fit in ur wheel well. A 40-50 series tire is basically a rubber band. How can it not fit?

They are universal 5 lugs. I'm not sure exactly what the offset mean but if youre asking if it clears in the back, no. The tire sticks slightly pass and it slices when going over bumps in the road. The 17z are too wide. Had the car lifted, now i put it back to stock height. I think im going to just call a mod shop. Thanks for the replys though.

"Universal" 5 lugs aren't universal, they fit 2 different 5 lug bolt patterns, which you may or may not have. You don't need a mod shop to fit relatively small rims, nor do you need to lift the car. You need the correct size rims and tires. This is fairly simple.

without having to do any modifications

IF the bolt pattern is 115X5 -
and IF the wheels have the correct OFFSET for a Front Wheel Drive Cadillac -

the biggest problem you are going to run into -
finding a 14 inch tire big enough to support the weight of the car -

the very common 195/75/14 will NOT carry the weight of your Deville -
the also common 205/70/14 will NOT work either - simply too small -

    your stock tire/wheel was a 205/70/15 -

you need to find 205/75/14 tires -
very rare for a passenger car tire -
somewhat common for a trailer tire -

215/75/14 are slightly larger in diameter -
but also VERY hard to find in a car tire -
this size is a somewhat common trailer tire size

the other possibility - if the wheels are wide enough - 7" wide -
    would be 225/70/14 -
still going to be hard to find - but at least they are available -
    ------------------------

    forget about the 13's - ain't gonna work -

    ------------------------

this is NOT my OPINION -

    it is FACT -

15" AND 16" were the stock wheel sizes -

17" would fit perfectly - along with 18" wheels -

the problem you are experiencing is not wheel diameter -
it is the WHEEL OFFSET -

I believe you are trying to use wheels from a REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE vehicle -
    on your FRONT-WHEEL-DRIVE car -

the incorrect wheel offset is pushing the wheels too far outside -
OR the current tire size is wrong - and way too wide -

Yea, my bad for the "5 lug universal". I was up all night and couldn't think for sh*t. Thanks BASSCATT. I assumed the 13z werent going to be a good idea. The guy sounded funny and made me second guess that. And i believe the tires do slightly stick out. When i purchased them, I told the guy that when he installed em and he also made me second guess myself. After all, all his cars had daytons so i just had to assume. The tires on the 17z are 225-50-17 I believe. Not sure so don't quote me on that. So 13z is a no. 14 and up? 15 and up? Never seen 16 inch daytons. Maybe another pair of 17z with the right offset. Thanks everyone for your input.

    ----------------------
daytons and spoke wheels in general were old-skool - 70's mid-size GM -
    Monte Carlo - cheville - grand prix - cutlass - skylark -
    ALL REAR-WHEEL DRIVE -

as these cars dried-up - went away - died -
the daytons became somewhat popular on S-10 pick-ups -

they were NEVER popular on any FRONT WHEEL DRIVE -
because the OFFSET was all wrong -

    OFFSET -
a pic is better than a thousand words -

    a front-wheel-drive Cadillac requires a POSITIVE-OFFSET-WHEEL -
    like the first pic -
the mounting hub is much closer to the outside edge - then the centerline -

    an old rear-wheel-drive GM car - or S-10 -
requires a wheel with ZERO offset - the middle pic -
the mounting hub is almost dead-center -

    I suspect the 14" daytons are a ZERO-OFFSET-WHEEL -
so - when bolted onto a FWD Cadillac -
the wheel sticks out way too far -

bottom line - those 14" daytons will NOT work on your car - PERIOD -

    --------------------

The tires on the 17z are 225-50-17
that is actually SMALLER than the optimal size -

if they rub - in any way - either the wheel OFFSET is wrong -
or you have major suspension problems -

    getting back to size -

    your car came with 205/70/15 tires - 26.3" overall diameter - 8.07 width -
the trick to selecting the correct over-size wheels/tires -
is to keep the overall diameter - and width as close to original as possible -

    the 225/50/17 tire has a diameter of 25.86" - almost 1/2 inch smaller -
the width is 8.86" - about 3/4 inch wider -
this is an ACCEPTABLE FIT -
and NO WAY should these tires rub -
UNLESS the wheel OFFSET is wrong -
either sticking the wheel out too far - so it is rubbing on the OUTSIDE -
or not sticking the wheel out far enough - so it is rubbing on the INSIDE -

So 13z is a no. 14 and up?
    well - I would say NO to BOTH 13 AND 14 -

15 was stock - 16 was an option - 17 would work just fine -
but I wouldn't go up to 18's - because you end up with rubber-band tires -

    Never seen 16 inch daytons
forget spoke wheels on Front-Wheel-Drive -
too much stress because to the big OFFSET -

Maybe another pair of 17z with the right offset
    there ya go -
