    1995 Deville headlight question

I own a 1995 Deville that just turned 60,000 miles.
Love the car and plan on keeping it.
My question, my low beam headlights don't throw enough light.
I would like to upgrade if possible.
I would appreciate any and all options
As t already said, I plan on keeping this car so I'm not afraid to put a few bucks into it.
    Within reason , or course.
I have other questions that I will post separately to avoid any confusion (on my part)Ray J

Re: 1995 Cadillac Deville 4.9l engine headlight question

I think your best option is to simply put higher output bulbs in it.

    P.S.
I edited your title. ALL '91 - '95 Devilles have the 4.9 engine so no real need to post it in the title.

stick with a high quality halogen bulb -

do NOT even consider one of the HID conversion kits -
YES - HID puts out more light -
but the light will be scattered - resulting in LESS useable light on the road -

if your headlights are not perfectly clear -
    as in "sand-blasted" - "cloudy" - or "yellowing" -
you could try restoring them - the 3M kit is the best -
there are several videos on youtube -
    showing how it works -

or you could but new headlights - for around $100 each -

What about just changing the bulbs
It was suggested that I get Sylvania Ultra light bulbs for both the high and low beams.
Has anyone got any info on whether these bulbs will brighten up the night?

    Re: 1995 Deville headlight question

With decent quality bulbs and not going to ultra ones the headlights should be decently bright. If there's nothing wrong with the headlights causing the problem like bad lenses or reflectors maybe there's a power drop somewhere causing it.

Stepping up in bulb price doesn't usual mean more output, it means a higher quality, longer lasting bulb.

    Re: 1995 Deville headlight question

I will check for bad lenses and/or reflectors again
Also, I will test for power drop
I'm assuming that my meter should be reading 12 volts at the connection.
Is there any other way to check?
    Maybe at the fuse box?
