My stock stereo didn't play cd's half the time so I got a new deck installed. The gas mileage is horrible at 15 mpg. The steering wheel needs to be pressed hard for the horn. Thats about it. |

Some front brake shudder that may have been caused by improper tightening of lug nuts. getting great 27MPG on trips. Satisfied with car to date. |

I do regular maintainance on it. 60,000 miles and just had a flush done, oil change every 3000 miles, rotate and balance, and allignment when the flush was done, and it drives like a dream. |

I really don't have or have had any problems with it that I would blame on GM other than the crankshaft position sensors. The heated seats don't work but I'm pretty sure that's the result of being submerged in water. Foglights come on when the car is in gear and the foglight switch doesn't turn them on or off. Something's screwy there but I think a previous owner did some custom wiring. Everything else works as designed.
I was a little disappointed with the fuel economy. My dad brags about how well his base Deville does (19-20 MPG on average) but I can't seem to do much better than 13-14 MPG. I have 'different' driving habits though.

Problems:
1. Intermittent no crank, hot or cold...one dealer replaced the ignition switch, but it has happened a couple of other times.
2. Battery died. Dealer sent out service truck. Replaced. Afterward, it wouldn't crank...first time a tech could verify it, but of course he didn't have any sophisticated diagnostic equipment with him. Told me to return to dealer but I never did because it is so intermitted. Eventually if you keep exercising the key, it will start.
3. On AM radio band, there's a static like noise when going over bumps. Sounds like a grounding or antenna problem. Dealer replaced radio, resolved for a quick test drive, now back to doing it again.
4. Twice the brake rotors had to be resurfaced...when I bought the car at about 15K miles and again just about a year later around 30K.
I didn't pay for any of the above. I have paid for a fair amount of preventive maintenance, in hopes of getting long life: flush brake fluid (will do every couple years), flush coolant (yes, I know it's supposed to be good for five years but I am very conservative), flush trans fluid every 30K at least, fuel filter at 30K, and I do my own oil/filter every 3-4K using Mobil 1. I know synthetic is overkill but if it's good enough for the BMW, the Caddy gets it too! |

Beautiful car, I'm in love. However,
741 Code is a Torque Converter
Clutch issue (or Torque Clutch
Converter, I always mix it up).
The Dealer will try to replace
your Tranny or overhaul it.
This would just be a rip off.
TCC problem won't kill your
transmission. I ignore the SES
light now. It was reset and came back
on after a few months, I continue to
ignore it and hope that it came back on
for the same reason (TCC-741) and not
something more serious.
This issue originally brought me to the Forums;
and, the Forums have been a blessing. Now I need
to figure out how to reset the freaking SES light
without paying the ripoff dealer, and hearing
what else I "$$NEED$$" from them.
