Hello.....I am new here.....It's been almost 2 months since I got my 2003 DHS with just 36,000 miles on it...It's a great car, so far...a Blue Onyx color...and drives and rides like a dream...I am very happy with it and all of the features it has....Looking to add the CD Changer to it...that works through the Bose Stereo System that came with the car....Will also add later...the XM Satellite radio..that also is suppose to work through the Stereo System with this car. I am getting good City HWY mileage at 19 ....the car is telling me..and about 27 when I am driving Interstate miles. I am glad that I found this site....as I hope to learn more about the car....and make some new friends here. |

Now has 19,500 on it. Huge difference in the two cars. Bought Wednesday, had tint added on Friday and drove it to Clovis on Sunday. Sweet.
The 01 was starting to eat my wallet. Both front door window actuators @ $350 each, AC/Heat fan @$225, AC/Heat director door @$450. Took the car to Don Mackey in Tucson for a coolant leak [tumbleweek broke through] and they found motor mounts, fuel pump ready to go [pretty noisy] added to the radiator, just shy of $2000 to fix this time and sounded like lifters weren't going to be far behind.
Saw the DTS on the lot and it was marked down, they offered a good trade and I drove the 04 home. So far - loving it. 18plus in the city, right now averaging 24 on the highway. Lower on highway than my Base Deville, but this is the 300 N*, the Base was a 285 N*. I'm good with that.
Bought the extended Warranty to 78,000. That should get me 3 years to work out any kinks. Had my Alignment Tech [private jobber] fine-tune alignment and balance on the Michlen Energy's today. Smooth as silk.
Consider me checked-in.... |

Last month I averaged 26mpg (by computer, did not check manually) on 1,000 trip. Very little in town dirving on that trip. A/C was not used because of weather. Indicated speed was 75 to 76mph.
A few days ago returning from Pensacola the DHS averaged 30mpg for the 33 miles from station to my house. Again this was computer indicated and I did not do a manual check.
Usually when I do a manual calculation check I find that the computer and manual are reasonable close. The most difference I have seen was last April on a 2100 mile trip around Florida. The computer read 25mpg after the trip and my manual calculation showed about 23mpg. This trip was all types of driving including lots of miles in city driving.
I was driving my wife's 2005 DHS.

Consider me checked-in.... | Im in Tucson as well, Don Mackey is kind of pricey at best I have a buddy that works for a Gm dealer in town that hooks me up with maintenance and im able to get parts at super low prices. Don Mackey wanted 40 for an A/C vent he got it for me for 12 dollars so let me know if you need anything. I also think that word is the sexiest word dealing with cars - WARRANTY uuuhhhh makes me tingle lol |

Before I get into it, I love the car. Very smooth, etc. Now on to the bad:
Crankshaft sensors (A & B) replaced under warranty at abt 6,000 mi.
Water pump at around 8,000 mi, under warranty.
Piston slap developed at around 20,000 mi. Replaced pistons, rings, etc. under warranty.
Electrically adjustable front sholder restraints--plastic housing rubbed inside of sleeve, leaving black scuff marks on the exposed plastic. Replaced, still does it.
Other sensors and mechanical stuff I can't remember, mostly under warranty.
Driver's seat sqeaks when moving back and forward on its track.
Some rattles developing.
I've heard from GM mechanics that at about 50,000 mi some Devilles begin to develop all kinds of electrical problems. Naturally they're quite expensive to work on, but not as bad as BMWs. =P |

I have an 05 Deville purchased new that now has 40K mostly highway miles. I consistently get gas mileage in the 22 to 27 range even though I have a heavy right foot. Burns about 1/2 quart every 6K miles. Had the rear rotors replaced under warranty and other than normal maintenance the car has performed flawlessly. |

waterpump @75K; blend doors malfunction fortunately fixed by removing electrical connection, cleaning and reinserting. [beats the $3,000 dash removal repair I heard about],; service stability system message which is real annoying especially when dealer said the only fix was to stop and restart car when it happens. Originally the bell would ring and force a stop but for some reason that ended and the message can now be removed by information panel button.; failure of drivers side heated seat which really annoyed my wife when we were advise that the fix would be worse than doing without the heat.
Wife just said AC is acting up again but have not addressed that yet. The car occasionally will stall at idle and once it missed on acceleration. Would like to know what that could be so my local mechanic could take a look at it.;
The car does get 30MPG on a trip which is amazing [probably uses more oil ] but I hate to see all this little stuff force me to sell the car which I expected to go to $150K. The 2002 still has as good a styling as the new ones. |

I've driven it about 30 miles and love it so far... |

Dad just bought a Diamond White 2002 DHS with Navigation, Park Assist, Chrome wheels, Rear and side sunshades, Rear four way lumbar, 1/4 canvas top, and gold package. He got it as a daily driver to keep the miles low on the 2007 Z06, here are a few pics:
It is a nice ride, much smoother than my brother's old 2003 DTS.

the car is really mint, but has high mileage... I test drove it & it drove beutiful... but I'm thinking after I really get comfortable with her I'm going to want to spend the 2g+ it will take to do all new active struts..... she should ride really nice then... if I can use it a few months as is that'd be better I guess... there are other mods I want to do to the car... |

My wife's folks live in Tucson so we're there a lot. They're in their 90's so we like to spend whatever time we can with them while they still have great health.
I like doing business with Don Mackey but honestly, they kinda screwed the pooch this last trip. I'd said my tires were "smooth as silk" but that was before I got the car back on the road at road speeds. Turns out the tires were bad [they were new] and had to be replaced. I originally went in to have a few issues taken care of and have the OnStar phone replaced with a digital unit so I could start service with Verizon. Don Mackey said they needed the car for 2 days for the phone, one day to get it in to get the numbers of the existing phone and then wait for the new one to arrive. My list was pretty short - Upgrade the OnStar, wind noise and air leaks in windshield and left side doors, creaking noise in the steering wheel, fix a couple minor scratches, run wiring for my radar detector and of course, take care of the tire/wheel problem. I was assured they'd get most of it done while the car was waiting for the phone. As it turns out, it seems nothing was done before the second day except get the phone on order. Consequentally, the only thing they really did was install the phone and replace the tires - and even at that, the work didn't get done until the last minute - on the 3rd day when I was trying to get back to Clovis. They did attempt to seal the windshield and did make an improvement but it's still noisy as hell - far noisier than my 01 was and the tires still aren't balanced very well. I'll get the tire issue settled with my frame and alignment guy and probably make an appointment with Gene Messer in Amarillo for the rest I want done.
Pretty disappointed in Don Mackey service right now. I'll consider it a bad fluke and certainly continue working with them as I can - I've always been more than satisfied with their work. Just didn't go well this time.
Speaking of warranty - Once I realized how the extended warranty worked, I went back to Don Mackey and asked about changing it to 4 X 72. They gave me the extra year and 12 at no additional cost.
It's my opinion that they work hard to get and keep your business. That works for me. They've had a lot more great days with me than the above boo-boo.
Again, thanks bigmike750 for the kind offer.

I just purchased an '04 DTS (Weds, 1/3/07) with 37K miles. I'm the 2nd owner; orig owner traded for an '07. I LOVE this car! I've always enjoyed driving my '95 DeVille that I purchased with 82K miles and at nearly 90K it still runs flawlessly. I've only driven the DTS about 60-70 miles since Weds night and I did have the "Svc Stability Sys" message pop-up yesterday but I wondered if it was caused by a "pot-hole" (that was only about 2" deep). I'll have it checked out pretty soon. I had it certified when I purchased it so it has the full bumper-to-bumper warranty until Nov-2009 or 100K miles. I thought that would be smart for my peace of mind and/or for re-sale (especially after having read this forum!).
Cheers ~
